I bought this air purifier to replace a cheaply made, loud Holmes model that I bought from Walmart. To be fair, it did a decent job, but I wasn’t impressed at all. So I ordered the Guardian because, I won’t lie, I loved how it looked in the pictures and, more importantly, it had received universally great reviews. After using the Guardian for the past three days straight I can personally attest to the great reviews. This machine is quiet, works wonderfully, and is by far the most aesthetically pleasing air purifier I’ve ever seen.
The only unfortunate thing I can say about it, and others have touched on this issue as well, is that there is a burning plastic smell that I noticed for the first several hours upon turning on the power. My room is medium sized, roughly 75-80 sq. feet (if I had to guess), and the smell was quite potent, especially for the first hour. I remember wondering if the thing would be kind enough to suck up its own smell, but the answer of course was no. Luckily, the smell soon faded and this purifier has been great ever since. I’ve read other complaints about the glowing blue light keeping people awake at night. I’m glad I’m stubborn and ignored these reviews, because those complaints almost kept me from buying the damn thing. I wouldn’t say the light is exactly bright, more of a soft glow, but if you’re sensitive to that sort of thing (as I very much am) you can simply turn off the U.V. while you sleep. It will continue to work amazingly without this feature running, although I do leave it on during the day while I’m at work. Does it actually do anything? I have no idea.
Finally, I want to add that in NJ, where I live, this is currently prime allergy season, but when I wake up I feel completely neutral, as if the air outside weren’t saturated with pollen (and God knows what else–it’s NJ!). It’s actually quite amazing.
Pros: great for allergies, strong quiet suction, aesthetically pleasing beyond belief, will keep your space smelling nice, virtually no dust anywhere
Cons: that damn smell for the first several hours

We have one of these in every room in our home, and it’s keeps our air fresh, clean and healthy for us. When going to any medical office, I can’t help but notice one in every room, also, especially since Covid became an issue around the world. The filters are easy and quick to change once you’ve done one or two. I like that now they’re available in white. They last a long time–for years, even–we’ve had several of our for YEARS without any problem–just make sure you chanage the filter when it indicates as needed.

I purchased four of these Air Purifiers within a week of each other. Two of them replaced old air purifiers of a different brand because I could no longer get the “hepa” replacement filters. My husband is on oxygen 24/7 and where we live we have had heavy smoke in our valley for over 2 months for the second time in the last year. The smoke inflames his lungs and he winds up in the hospital. With 4 of these running day and night throughout the house, we have managed to keep him out of the hospital this time. They have 5 speeds and the higher speed is #5. On days when the smoke has been really bad I keep them on on the highest speed. They are a little noisy on #5 speed but we are so used to having them run we hardly ever notice the noise. Neither one of us has a lot of nose congestion since we started using them and the allergy sneezing has been cut out almost completely. They do have the UV light to kill germs and I have a tendency to turn it on when we’ve had house guests but I don’t keep them on all the time. The replacement filers are reasonably priced and right now seem easy to acquire. I am hoping that will be true in the future. So far we really like these air purifiers, they look good and preform well. Good investment.

I had an older model GermGuardian air purifier. It’s time to replace it. This air purifier has an excellent design, is quiet and has 6 speeds plus a quartz lamp. For me, this thing is necessary in the house. I live on the 1st floor of a building, basement is below us and I have a cat, so my air purifier works around the clock. The previous purifier did its job perfectly, so I think its more modern brother will purify the air even better.

So, After 7 years, I am finally writing a review. This air filter has been great and is STILL WORKING like it was the first day. We still get filters for it to replace when needed. I’m very happy with this purchase and will definitely buy another whenever this one decides to go out!

I’ve been “cheating” to extend the life of my filter by regularly vacuuming it out. On the lower settings, 3 and lower, it is very, very quiet. It’s not “loud” per se on 4 and 5 but certainly noticeable, ppl that would like white noise to sleep by I think would like it. At first I thought my breathing was easier, but that may be a placebo effect, but I’m not discounting it at all.. I’m hoping the UV lamp and filter are removing “gak” from the air. I got this filter to help preserve my mini-split AC unit from getting so dirty from my German Shepherd’s dander and dirt he brings in as the squirrel cage fan gets really dirty since they run 24/7 on the AC settings. I think this unit is worth the price.

A solid purchase and purifier. It is nice and quiet which is a big plus. Easy to clean. Easy to move around. Controls are simple but honestly this thing just stays on all the time ( so I didn’t rate the timer function, I’m sure it’s just fine though).
No regrets getting this one.

Product was received on time and in good condition. Works great. I feel the air is cleaner and it definetly reducing the strong smell of frying food from kitchen. Only one thing you will have to operate the unit at 5 strength to get a quicker results. It is a bit noisier, but it does not bother me as it stand next to the TV which is even noisier.
