Great for under an office desk, warm enough and thin enough, I don’t pay the office electricity bill so I cannot comment on efficiency.
Slight quality control issue on one foot (see photo). Quick fix and all is well.

I have a basement office in my home with a very cold floor. This compact heater fits very nicely under my desk and makes the desk very pleasant to sit at when it used to be very cold on my feet. It provides both radiant and convective heating, making the under desk space and floor very comfortable. The heater is not too hot, in fact it is quite pleasant to put my stocking feet on it to warm the toes when I first sit down. My only criticism would be the feet are a bit flimsy and the friction fit of them onto the heater is not very tight. The legs have a habit of falling off when moving the heater. Other than that, I consider it an excellent heater.

Love the quiet radiant heat from this little unit compared to a fan style space heater which I find drying and noisy. I was especially glad to find a slim panel shape compared to the other options – a perfect fit for under a desk without being bulky. Unlike the other reviews, my unit DID come with feet to stand the panel up… happy with it!

This is a nice little heater for small rooms
pros: It’s very compact, affordable, low wattage, extremely silent. Built-in thermostat makes it as easy as turning it on and dialing in the desired setting. It looks kind of cool, too. Also it heats up very nicely, not too intrusive with the heat output. great for a cold office or other small room.
cons: while it takes only a few minutes to heat up, it can take considerably longer to heat the entire room. Also, according to the warning label, you must have the unit placed 3 ft away from any wall or other potentially flammable object (although I’ve had mine with in a ft of multiple items, and no damage has occurred). The design of the “clip-on” feet make it slightly unstable.
I bought this unit from Amazon for my downstairs studio, as the only one I could find locally was 1500 watts (half the capacity of my generator!). My studio is 12′ x 16′ with an 11′ ceiling. the unit warms up the room a few degrees after about an hour or two. It warms up about a 5 ft radius considerably more. My studio is slightly bigger than the unit is meant for I think, I would recommend someone with a room the size of mine or larger to find a heater that is a little more heavy duty If you want to feel a considerable difference. It works for me, since I live in Hawaii (yes it gets cold here, too), and only wanted a slight increase in temperature.

I wanted something slim to keep in my upstairs bathroom and something that did not draw alot of power. This unit is quite slim and 400 watts max. There’s a dial so I guess if you turned it halfway you’d be using 200 watts approx. Heats up quickly and silently and quite does the job in my 7×5 bathroom. You are not supposed to get it wet- it says on the box don’t use it in the bathroom. But use some common sense and don’t splash it, don’t keep it too close to the sink, and turn it off n move it away from the shower before showering. It makes no noise at all while it is warming up or maintaining heat. The only noises it makes are when you turn it off. Then it makes some decently loud clicks every couple of minutes for about 10 or 15 minutes. No big deal. Would be nice if there was another handle on it so you could pick it up with two hands to move it. Some have complained about the legs not being sturdy. I had a little bit of difficulty getting the legs to snap on as they should, but did triumph in the end, and it is quite sturdy. Would recommend for other small rooms or as a personal heater… next to bed, next to couch, etc. Very nice, very happy with purchase.
UPDATE 2/8/2018. Still working well for my bathroom. Helps out a lot before getting in the shower in the morning, as I turn the heat down to 68 at night. My bathroom, and the rest of my upstairs is like 60 degrees on a cold morning (upstairs 60, downstairs 68- bad insulation I guess) and this little heater does a great job of quickly getting my bathroom close to 70 by the time I get in the shower. Also, tho I don’t take HOT showers, this heater also keeps the mirror from fogging up, and I lay my semi-wet towel across it when I finish drying off (turning off the heater and not covering the vent.) Does a nice job too of warming my socks up when I get home from work.
Update: 10/22/14…… I have recommended this heater to a few people. It’s a shame there are a few bad reviews here JUST due to some of the heater’s feet. Some older models had plastic feet and this caused issues with breaking legs and instability. Mine are metal, and have caused me no issues whatsoever- never had to re-adjust the feet. If you are on the fence about buying it, don’t be.
Update 1/13/2016……Ordered another one for my drafty kitchen for mealtime. Checked the feet on both units- I am pretty sure they ARE plastic! Magnets slide right off. My apologies to those I may have offended. Sounds and feels like metal when you tap it. Very strong though, and I have had zero issues with it. I guess a few people got duds.

At 400 watts, I was skeptical as to its capability. With no fan and such a small wattage, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But this was small, easily portable, and reasonably priced. I took a chance.
In all, this unit will not heat a large space. As the name suggests “under desk” is correct. If the heat can escape to the ceiling, then it will be useless. But in a small, confined space… then, it is perfect.
My home does not have the best heating system: baseboard with high ceilings. The heat in the house is adequate but I turn it down during the day. Therefore, it takes a long time to heat up.
The Newair 400 goes under my desk, and it provides more than enough heat for comfort, and without heating the whole space. In all, this was a very cheap remedy until a better solution can be managed.
Finally, this unit is now more than 1 year old, and it was used daily during the fall, winter and early spring. Still flawless!

Too bad, I was sold on the sleek and slim design and low power consumption, but the heater would not stand erect. It leans forward.
The feet are made of brittle plastic that could crack easily. They also fall off easily when being transported from room-to-room.
You could hear and feel a loose part inside that moves about when you tilt the product sideways.
I asked for a replacement unit, but then even that one had the same flaws.
Given that this is heater, I wasn’t comfortable using it as I feel it could be a fire hazard.
I contacted the NewAir Customer Support line describing all of the above. They told me to just return the products.

Excellent. Used it in my office at work over the winter. No problems in several months since I bought it.

I use this wonderful heater in my class C RV. The furnace in most RVs are loud and noisy making it near impossible to sleep. In cold tempuratures it is important to keep plumbing (and humans) from freezing. This little heater is quiet and can keep our RV at a tolerable 50+ degrees on a sub freezing outdoor tempurature. Its not instant heat but give it some time and it does the job with little fuss or noise. I modified the feet a little to allow them to come off so we can pack it away in the closet.
