I was expecting it runs like an AC but blows cool air, it’s nice and quiet

Moved to a new apartment that doesn’t have AC and has horrible cross ventilation, so the living area gets very hot and stuffy. I purchased this hoping it would cool down the space to make it more enjoyable. It definitely works and keeps the temperature down a few degrees.
Keep in mind, it will not get anywhere near as cold as an A/C unit, nor does it claim to, but it certainly helps keep my living room cooler and more tolerable (about 300sf). Another note, it will make your room more humid because it uses water. I am going to pair it with a dehumidifier and will report back to see if there is a noticeable decrease in humidity, which should help with the overall comfort level.
Lastly, I fill the tank with chilled water and ice cubes (I keep a pitcher of water in my refrigerator) and refill the tank with ice cubes throughout the day as needed. In my opinion, the ice does a better job at melting and keeping the water cold vs. the ice packs. The melted ice also helps keep the water level fuller for longer.
Overall I’m happy with this purchase.

Being most effective in an arid, dry climate and perhaps largely due to a misunderstanding of what to expect from an evaporative cooler, some reviewers have been disappointed with its performance. The machine combines a powerful fan with a cool air humidifier but does not itself ‘produce’ cold air like an air conditioner does. So, if used in an already humid environment, it further increases the ambient humidity by adding cool humid air to hot humid air, resulting in even muggier air, rather than producing the desired cooling effect.
Too, it must be placed with its back to slightly opened door or window, or it will not have the necessary airflow to achieve optimal performance. If the unit has not been used for a while and the cooling pad has dried out, the next time it is turned on with the humidify function activated, you should briefly hear water dripping down the cooling pad to reactivate it. If you don’t hear it, just call customer service for over the phone resolution.
Living in the American Southwest, I am accustomed to what to expect from evaporative (swamp) coolers and I like this product very much. It offers numerous options for operation, has a decent size water tank and is ready to go with very minimal assembly. Rather than taking the tank in and out to fill, I use a pitcher and on hotter days, add ice cubes to the water. This is in my opinion more effective than using plastic ice packs.
The fan is powerful enough to noticeably cool my entire one-bedroom apartment, which I find is reflective of the quality and utility for which Dreo fans are known. The warranty is an impressive 30 months, which shows their commitment to customer satisfaction.
I highly recommend this product to other shoppers, per the above-mentioned operational stipulations.

The media could not be loaded.
Did not come with directions. Looked on YouTube and saw how to put together after support failed to respond to me. Left for vacation and now getting to use it. Put ice water and ice packs inside tub, turned it on and waited. Nothing but hot air. Contacted support. Four days ago and still waiting for a person to help me troubleshoot. On the highest setting it is noisy. The remote works fine. The quality is awful. I could have saved money and purchased a fan.

In. Colorado where there is no water in the air. This helps a ton. Though my room doesn’t cool down a bunch but this definitely helps battling the hot in the middle of the summer in a room at the top of the of house. It’s no louder than a regular fan. A bit large but nothing that can be worked around. Would I buy again…. Yes. Maintenance horrible. Though getting the container in and out is a task, I’d recommend using a pitcher for filling instead.

For us, the critical issue was the form factor. We’ve had others which were big and clunky. Yes, they had higher capacity, but they took up too much space. This is tall and slim, taking up little floor space.
The fan is quite powerful. We almost never use it above 1 or 2, even though it goes to 4.
The water container is not very big, so it will run out if used for several hours in a hot, dry situation. However, for us that is a very acceptable trade off to have its small “footprint”. The cooling function works surprisingly well.
Filling the water container is a little awkward because it must be done from the back and you need to bend over to floor level to open it. However, again, for us this is acceptable in the face of its good function.
We have hardwood floors; so, I’ve been worried about water getting on the floor. Thus, I have put it in the kind of water tray you use for indoor plants, just in case there is a leak or splash when filling. However, so far there has been no problem of this type.
We are quite satisfied and would buy it again.

I bought this because I live in a house that has AC that doesn’t quite reach the bedrooms. I wanted something that did not take up a lot of room and is quiet enough to be on in the background while I work. I have not used the ice/water aspects because I just haven’t needed them–it keeps the room cool without it (though I am sure it would be a lot cooler if I took those extra steps). The 4 speeds give me flexibility, and I can easily move it around if I need to. I am very happy with this purchase!
