We have been using this in our large warehouse and it has made a world of a difference, the space is over 7000 sq ft and this dehumidifier so far hasn’t had any trouble keeping the humidity levels low, the pump that it has is amazing it automatically drains the water so we don’t have to think about it. This was a huge upgrade we did if we compare it to the ones we tried, the past we tried needed constant attention but this one doesn’t, now we can place it wherever its needed the most without worrying about drainage, this is easy to move around since it comes with some wheels and handles which is great for us since we often need to relocate it depending on our needs plus its really quiet.

I have complained. I have received a full refund, but this item is still advertised for sale one Amazon UK. This is an American piece of electrical equipment. It is designed and built in the USA. It ships from the USA. It has an American plug and American voltage system. I have been told it is possible to covert to the UK system, but that would invalidate the guarantee. I hadn’t realised when I purchased that it shipped from Indianapolis, which should have given me a clue. There are UK machines available, so seek elsewhere.

I was searching for a commercial grade dehumidifier for my barn/garage, which is constantly wet due to water flow against the cement foundation. I found this unit on sale, and was attracted by its decent 170 pint / day capability and its built in pump, which I need because I need to get the water up and out of a window.
The unit arrived carefully packaged, but was easy to unpack because, after you remove the packing straps, the box slid off so you don’t have to lift the unit out. It was heavy, almost 100 pounds, but the wheels are excellent quality both front and back. It rolled very easily.
I let it rest for 24 hours and turned it on. When I returned the next day, I discovered that there was a leak in the brass fitting that connected to the drain hose, likely because the connector had been banged in transit. I went to the hardware store and found a replacement fitting that worked, then wrote to customer service. Though they’re in China, they responded overnight and quickly offered me fair compensation for the cost of the parts and my time. Really one of the better customer service experiences I’ve had, which is unusual for an international vendor.
At any rate, with the brass fitting fixed, the unit has been CRANKING. I had my 2000+ sq ft space down from 88% humidity to a constant 40% humidity within 48 hours, and now the unit has no problem maintaining that easily, while not even running all the time. I expect this will cure my mold and paint problems — regardless of the wet weather here in New Hampshire. Recommended.

After Hurricane Ian, I was faced with the challenge of controlling the humidity in my entire home, as the bathroom had been soaked and the drywall inside had sustained water damage. I already had a 70-pint dehumidifier, but it was not sufficient for the task. I needed something with at least double the dehumidifying capabilities, which is why I chose a 170-pint dehumidifier.
The unit came in a large box and I was initially worried that it would be too large to navigate in my home. However, upon opening the box, I found that the Styrofoam packaging took up a lot of space inside the box to protect the dehumidifier. I read the manual and found out that I had to leave it unplugged and in an upright position for at least 24 hours before use, so that the oil in the compressor could settle from the move. Not doing so could affect its lifespan and function. I also took out a clear 16-ft flexible drain hose.
Even though it is larger than my 70-pint dehumidifier, it does not look bulky. On the contrary, the combination of black and white make it look like a regular household unit. Even though it can remove 2.5 times more humidity from the air, it only takes up slightly more space than a 70-pint dehumidifier.
Another step I had to do before turning it on was to connect the drain hose to the drain outlet. The hose was long enough, so I could place the other end in my bathroom sink.
The LCD display is large and lights up with large blue numbers when I turn on the dehumidifier. It is very intuitive to use. I can monitor the humidity levels and adjust the target humidity level by pressing the up and down buttons. If I do not press any button, it displays the current humidity level.
I first put it to use in my bathroom, where I had removed the wet drywall due to water damage. The room was damp and musty, and I hoped the new dehumidifier would dry it up quickly so I could install new drywall. I turned it on and immediately noticed a difference. The relative humidity was over 75% at that time, but after a few hours, the room was hot and dry, with a humidity level of just below 40%.
I appreciated the variety of safety features the unit is equipped with, including automatic shut off when the temperature exceeds 113 degrees Fahrenheit, automatic drainage with the built-in pump, and automatic restart with previous settings in case of a power outage. It also has an auto-defrost function for the evaporator coils and will shut down automatically if the temperature drops below 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Although I live in South Florida and may never need the latter safety features, it is reassuring to know that the dehumidifier is more than enough protected and I can leave it running for days without interruption.
After five days of continuous operation, the bathroom was bone dry with a relative humidity of 26% and the musty odor was completely gone. The air was hot, but I expected that.
I then proceeded to use the dehumidifier in other rooms of my home, but before doing so, I cleaned the filter located behind the air inlet grill. There was a thick layer of drywall dust on top of the filter, but I was able to rinse it clean with my garden hose and let it air dry. I also pressed the Purge button to drain the water that had accumulated at the bottom of the pump.
To my surprise, I did not see a significant increase in energy usage when I logged into the website of my power company, Florida Power & Light. I was able to use the Energy Dashboard to monitor my energy consumption on a monthly, daily, and even hourly basis. During the days I was using the dehumidifier continuously, my daily energy usage fluctuated between 20 kWh at its lowest and peaked at 41 kWh, which was at the beginning. I roughly used 25 kWh without the dehumidifier running 24/7, and with it on, energy use increased to approximately 32 kWh a day. So, even though its rated power is 1200 watts according to the manual, it uses far less. The listed input power of 650 watts must be accurate. Thus, it is not as power-hungry as I feared according to the specifications in the manual, and it is cleverly programmed to save energy.
I researched the exact meaning of rated and input power and I know now better why my energy use was lower than expected. Rated power is the maximum power consumption that a device is capable of using under normal operating conditions. Input power, on the other hand, is the actual amount of power that a device is using at a given moment. The input power can be less than the rated power, as many devices, like my new dehumidifier, have power-saving features that allow them to use less energy when not in heavy use.
After that, I went on to dehumidify all the rooms in my home. It took me over three weeks. I doubted I could do it as fast as with my regular 70-pint dehumidifier, but ultimately, I was able to solve the moisture problem in my house once and for all.
