Very light, but that’s not surprising given that there’s not much to it. Build quality is what you’d expect for this price range, pretty thin and flimsy plastic, the front grating isn’t really held on by anything it just kind of flops in there, which feels cheap and unsatisfying. However, given that this thing pretty much just sits in the same spot indefinitely, it should survive well enough if you treat it right. Though it also comes with casters, so you could theoretically wheel it over to a sink or spigot and wheel it back if carrying water is a problem for you.
I was dubious as to how well this style of pretty much just using a fan to dry off a sponge would work, but this thing has eaten about 4-5 gallons a day running at full power, and there’s nowhere else that water could’ve gone but the air. I’ve got it next to the intake for my central air and it seems to be keeping up okay serving the whole place, but its area rating might’ve been a little over-stated. This is a two-floor condo that’s about 2400 square feet total, and even running on high constantly the humidity tops out in the high 30s, and I’ve verified the machine’s measurement against my own hygrometer so it’s not a sampling thing. I can feel the difference in the air, but it should be able to do a little better than that.
Biggest trouble is that the fan is LOUD. It’s not painful or anything, but when I’m 20 feet from the humidifier and 8 feet from the TV I still have to raise the volume about 6 clicks to hear dialogue clearly. Definitely annoying. Medium and high are about the same amount of noise thanks to the buzz that comes from the voltage chopper or whatever circuit controls the fan speed. Low speed is actually very quiet, but doesn’t vaporize nearly enough water to keep the RH% out of the 20s.
The way I see it, it’s limited by its mechanism of operation. This thing is just a bucket that the wick sits in, so when full, the wick is half covered by water so it can’t evaporate as effectively. If I fill more frequently with less water to keep the level low I can get better performance out of it, but that’s a pain. I wanted a big, high-capacity humidifier so that I could load it up a whole bunch and not have to worry about it for a long time.
So yeah, if your house is any bigger than mine, consider an evap humidifier with an elevated tank that maintains a constant level in the tray, rather than just flooding the wick like this one does. If noise is a consideration for you, probably go with an ultrasonic type, as those produce just a little hum. But, if you want a simple, compact humidifier with a large water capacity that you can just set it up and forget about it, this is the right buy for you. I had an HVAC tech inspecting the furnace yesterday and when he saw this thing he said “Oh yeah, I have that same one! Works great.” which I would say is a pretty ringing endorsement from an expert.

The humidity in my condo (~1100 sq-ft) goes down to about 12% in the winter, so I need a whole-home humidifier. I used the Aircare D46 last year and it was just OK. Not powerful enough for my whole house, but it got things up in the 30% range which at least wasn’t awful. Filling up the containers was annoying though, so I decided to get a larger and more powerful unit that I could fill easily. I ended up settling on this one. I’ve used it for about 2 weeks, so I now have a good idea of how well it works.
First off, filling this thing is so much easier than my last unit. I just take a pitcher filled with tap water, and dump it in. It’s that easy and makes me wish I had bought a “top-fill” unit ages ago. As for the speed settings, low (1) is pretty quiet and seems to be able to keep my humidity level at around 37% which is good for my place. I fill the water daily, but I believe it would last about 2 days before going empty on this setting. The 2nd setting is a little useless as it’s quite loud, so you may as well use the the setting (3) which is a little louder, but barely and works better. I personally set the humidity to 45%, and it’s able to keep up as long as I keep it filled with water. I’d say the full tank lasts about 24hrs on this setting. It does turn off once it hits 45%, but it doesn’t turn off very often, so I think 45% is somewhat maxing out it’s capabilities for my home. If I set it to 50% it would likely always stay on, and maybe go up to 47%-ish. Anyways, I have it on (3) when I’m not in the same room, and (1) when I am. My humidity level is always between a healthy 35-45% as a result, which I am happy with.
Overall my only complain is that it’s white and doesn’t fit my decor at all. I can live with that as long as it keep working though.

Works as it should very easy to set up once out of the box took our old house from 16% humidity up to 42% humidity within one day. Fan is a little noisy on high but seems to keep the humidity up at the lower settings.

My likes and dislikes are pretty simple.
Likes
– Very large capacity for it’s size and cost. I don’t know why other humidifiers are so small in capacity while being larger in size. Even AirCare has larger space humidifiers but less water capacity. Just odd.
– Super easy to fill and use.
– Does work in large spaces but needed 2 for a large 4000sqft home.
– Wick easily available to purchase, and super easy to switch out. I’ve had other humidifiers that the wicks are impossible to find, and even more so to switch out.
– Also very easy to clean as it disassembles leaving simple parts to wash.
– Auto shut off when empty, and informative display.
– Fan is before the humidity wick, so it will have a much longer life. Putting the fan motor after the wick seems dumb to me as that allows the wet air to collect in the electric motor both increasing mold possibilities and making cleaning harder. This does NOT do that, thank goodness.
– large water fill area.
Cons
– Yep, it’s loud on all but lowest setting for fan.
– Fan makes odd buzzing on 2nd setting.
– Only 3 fan settings, while many others have up to 6 or 8.
– Can’t fill when running, as it fills water into the air exit so that might blow water out as you try to put it in. But then again it is a large opening, so give and take on this one I guess.
– It’s kind of ugly. AirCare makes a very good looking pedestal version but it’s 1/2 the water capacity and the motor/fan is after the wick on air flow making more likely to be troublesome. I’d like to see them redesign this one to be better looking, like the pedestal model with a usable table top.
I’m here today to buy another one of these, to add to a larger home we just moved into. Our current unit is about 5 years old and still going strong so these appear to have a very long life. Plus getting wicks is so easy, we’ve really enjoyed have this humidifier and using it.

Works great as described ! During the winter when it was really dry like 15% humidity I needed to fill it up everyday, otherwise it can last up to a week. Quiet, multiple settings, easy to fill with a pail in one shot.

I had been looking for a large capacity evaporative humidifier for an 1800 sq foot apartment. This one does the job. It is relatively compact, has a large capacity reservoir that is easy to fill, and the appearance is a clean modern white design.

Update – almost 2 years later (9/12/2023). There are some odd quirks with the control panel. Read the manual as you may need to do a reset.
I still have this humidifier…and love it!! It is big and not so beautiful but it does the job! I don’t have to keep refilling so much and it takes tap water.
A major key is to keep the filter clean! I add a bit of hydrogen peroxide to the water which helps. If the humidifier is going to sit unused for more than a day make sure you remove the water and filter. Clean out the inside and dry it. Let the filter dry in the sun and it will be good as new. New filters aren’t pricey (about $25) but why throw out money??
I will keep updating and if this bad boy lasts for 10 years I will let you know! Stay hydrated and keep your house humid in the winter!!!
30 days later I am having problems. The controls are stuck on 20% humidity and even if I use the F3 fan level the output is not great. I am super disappointed as this seemed like a nice and easy solution. Will let you know what I hear from the company.
This is a simple evaporative cooler and it does its job well. I like it a lot. Does it win an interior design award? No. Is it practical and functional? Absolutely!! I use a bucket to pour water into the humidifier. It takes 6 gallons at a time, which is 3 buckets for me. The 6 gallons lasts about 48 hours. There are 3 fan levels. Level 1 is barely audible. I have it near my TV. Level 3 is pretty loud and I only use it at night. I have an 1100 sf house and smaller humidifiers in the upstairs bedrooms. This keeps the main floor at about 35% humidity at fan level 1 and 40% at fan level 2 or 3.
People complain that it is cheap. Um…it is plastic. I am not expecting titanium at this price. Would it break if I dropped a 12 pound bowling ball on it? Probably. So try not to do that.
I put it in a plastic container in case I spill water. My older rescue likes it and leans on it. Lol.

The machine works well but I’m not too sure about the accuracy of the humidity readings. We have a hygrometer in our living room (about 15 feet from the humidifier) and there’s always a difference in the readings, sometimes as much as 5%. In any event, it humidifies our condo to our satisfaction.
