I recently sold my home and decided to rent apartment until I decide on buying another home . The apartment I rented was being completely remodeled . Some . My first night in the apartment I woke up and it smelled like I woke up in a bar. I went to visit a friend the next day and she said you smell like cigarette smoke . The smell was even in my clothes . I was ready to move out but after researching how to get rid of smoke smell , I decided to try this . I let it run 24 hours with AC unit fan on automatic and all fans running . I came back the next morning and the apartment had an almost chemical smell and it was like a fog filled the place . I opened the doors and let air out a bit . It didn’t take long and the chemical smell wasn’t as strong and it had almost a fresh smell . The cigarette smell was gone . I couldn’t believe how well it worked . I would have never thought it would make that big of difference. I’ve noticed after a few days of not much air circulating I can get a little bit of cigarette smell but not bad at all . I have started running this any time I leave for a few hours and the apartment smells very clean when I get back . The apartment is around 900 square feet and this small machine works great. I will also run for a few hours in a room and shut the door . Some reviews complain about a chlorine smell but it doesn’t last long . I would rather smell the chlorine smell over smelling like a bar. This compact little device came beautifully packaged easy to follow directions and accessories. I bought it because I own a condo and the my neighbor downstairs is filthy beyond belief. She allowed her dog to pee and poo indoors for a couple years, only picking up the poo. She had a professional cleaner come in once in the middle of this time and they wore personal protective suits. I thought she had does and they were cleaning up after it. But no…I’d been inside her place because of common plumbing issues. There was layer on top of layer on top of layer of dog pee so thick it could be peeled off the floor, not to mention regular household dirt. She abandoned the place (now I know why) and six months later her family came and started tearing out flooring. Within 36 hours I was being bitten by invisible bugs and they were throughout my house. I’ve spent almost $2,000 on self help and exterminators. Unfortunately any treatments didn’t last because when they go in downstairs and do work on walls and floors it starts over again. A friend who has rentals has one of these and blasts his places for a full 24 hours when he needs to. He couldn’t find it to loan it to me so I bought my own. When I first received it I blocked off the bedroom and did only that room. I made sure the door was shut and sealed off by putting towels in plastic bags and placing them at the bottom so nothing would seep out. Holy moly it’s powerful. Even though I shower x2 daily I could feel them angry on my skin, via my clothing I guess. I ran it for three hours and my room smelled fresh, though not at all like rain, but clean, and seemed to be mite free. I haven’t been able to use it in the other rooms yet because of cold temperatures. I realized that even though I treat my room they keep coming back because my newish living room set and carpet is infested. I’ve got the carpet half torn out and the sofa and chair and a half turned upside down so the dog doesn’t get in them and bring mites back to the bedroom. I will be throwing it away because I’m not taking any chances. If you’ve ever had this problem you know how confusing and depressing it can be. Exterminators can’t do anything more than you can do for yourself. I’m throwing out all of my furniture with soft cushions as these things get deep into them and surface poisons don’t work into the deep to get them all. While I trust this machine to do its job I don’t know if it will go deep into cushions so I will be chopping my three year old beautiful furniture info chunks so no one will think it’s usable and take it into their own home. I wouldn’t do that to an enemy. Thank the powers that be that my tempurpedic is in an encasement.
I took the machine to a condo I take care off that’s been unoccupied for about seven years. It had a slight roach problem. I ran the machine for the three hours in each room and I haven’t seen any more roaches. I can’t wait for better weather to go stay at my friends condo so I can get the furniture and carpet out of my house so I can use my machine for a full day and get rid of these things once and for all. They’re an absolute curse.
