Had issues of low humidity in the house (low 20% range) in the winter. I bought and installed this and it consistently keeps things around 40% now. The installation was actually pretty simple, it just takes a while (leave a whole day aside to do it, unless you’re experienced in plumbing, electrical, and ductwork). For the price this is great, way cheaper than a contractor installation.

i purchased this item from amazon and hired an HVAC professional to install it for me . the moment we opened the box , the technician noticed that damper and bypass connection is missing, apparently its included in a different model. from my perspective, when i spent this much mony on a peace of plastic, at the very least it should have all components i need to install it . i wasted so much time and money . the manufacturers have to stop being greedy and think about convince of the consumers.

The humidifier works quite well, in 2500 sq. ft home, mounted on the return, even with cold water (tried it first since it was easy to tee it from the refrigerator line). I like the way it adjusts based on outdoor temperature. It was easy to push the temperature sensor wire through some caulking around an existing hole, no need to re-drill to the outside. The kit was not very useful in my case. The 6″ duct is flimsy, barely 22 inches and was too short to reach. The 10 ft wires were also too short. The saddle valve doesn’t meet code (tends to leak). I recommend getting parts separately to the lengths needed – wires and ducting were available on Amazon.

I recently purchased the Aprilaire 600 Whole Home Humidifier, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! Living in a dry climate, I’ve struggled with uncomfortable indoor air for years, but this product has truly transformed my home environment.
Installation was surprisingly straightforward, thanks to the comprehensive instructions provided. Even for someone like me who isn’t particularly handy, it took just a few hours to set up the Aprilaire 600. The build quality is excellent, and it’s clear that this product is designed to last.
One of the things I appreciate most is the automatic control feature. It maintains the perfect humidity level in my home without me having to constantly adjust settings. This has not only made the air more comfortable but also helped me sleep better at night and reduced static electricity, which was a common annoyance in the winter months.
The performance is outstanding. Within a short period of time, I noticed a significant improvement in the overall comfort of my home. My skin feels less dry, my allergies have improved, and even my furniture seems happier with the added moisture. It’s also a relief to know that maintaining the optimal humidity level can help protect my wooden floors and prevent them from cracking.
In summary, if you’re tired of dealing with dry air and its negative effects on your health and home, the Aprilaire 600 Whole Home Humidifier is a fantastic solution. It’s reliable, easy to install, and delivers noticeable results. I couldn’t recommend it more highly – it’s been a game-changer for me, and I’m sure it will be for you too!

I have two units in my home. One that serves the basement and 1st floor, and another which serves the 2nd and 3rd floors. I installed the AprilAire600 on the unit in the basement. I was hoping that by installing the humidifer on that unit it would help humidify the whole house, even the floors upstairs, through circulation of the humidified air from the basement unit. Fortunately this seems to be what’s happening. You can see the data in the attached photo/chart (exported from home assistant via humidity sensors throughout the home). These sensors are split between the upper and lower floors, but there is a clear bump in humidity after the unit was installed. It’s only been running a couple of days and it’s already made a signfiicant impact.
We get lots of bloody noses and chapped lips in our home in the winter, so I am hoping this will help with that.
As far as the install goes it was pretty straight forward. I did order sheet metal snips to cut the duct, but they were delayed and I ended up using my oscillating tool with a metal cutting blade on it, and it made the job easy. I also ordered the unit with the intall kit, but the cheap flimsy ductwork they provide was torn so I made a trip to the hardware store and bought rigid ductwork for a more robust professional install. I elected to buy a sharkbite tee with outlet valve (1/2″ PEX with a 1/4″ OD tube outlet) for the water line. I have had bad experiences with needle valves before and I wanted to avoid issues down the road. Lastly, I also purchased 1/4″ OD copper tubing for the water line in lieu of the plastic tubing provided in the install kit.
I am fairly handy, but this was my first time messing around with ductwork. I took my time, watching a few videos and planning things out and it took around 6-7 hours total, including a trip to the hardware store and eating lunch.

This Whole House Humidifier does the job and is fairly easy and straight forward to install. This is my second install (different home), and I would choose the Aprilaire Model 600 again. Be sure you know where your A-Coil is on the supply side of your furnace/Air Handler. Also, be sure to read the wiring notes. The diagram shows the proper connections for the (automatic) Humidistat, but the G wire connection might be confusing for DIY’ers. Yes, the existing G wire gets disconnected and reconnected to the Humidistat. Also, the “C” wire (24 volts ac) may not have an obvious spot on your furnaces terminal board. Not all circuit boards have a “C” terminal. My Trane Furnace/Air Handler for instance has a B/C terminal. Just a few little things. Again, fairly easy and straight forward. Worth the money and time to install.
One last thing: I ordered mine with the installation kit. I think I could have bought all the individual parts required cheaper at the hardware store, but the kit includes almost everything needed (except for a few little things including sheet metal screws, some wire ties, and vent tape) and saved me time. The only thing in the kit that is certainly useless is the 6 inch bypass flexible vent hose. The one I was sent is only 24 inches long. Maybe it was someone’s idea of a joke (I’m laughing), and I don’t know if that’s the standard length for the kit, but I would guess that this will never work for any application, no matter how close the supply and return ducts are together. I had to go buy a replacement. They should send a vent hose that is at least 5 or 6 feet long.

Product was as expected. Reasonably easy to follow instructions, but watched a few Youtube videos too that helped in some areas of the install. Humidity in the house has come up considerably, even though i have the water coming from the cold supply rather than hot. Not sure what my first water bill is going to look like but the house is certainly better!

The install isn’t super easy, but if you’re mechanically inclined, and read through the steps carefully, you can do this yourself.
RH in our 2300 sq ft home was 28% before install. After letting it run overnight the RH was at 40%. I wasn’t able to make the humidifier command the furnace fan on call for humidification. In fan “auto” mode the humidifier only runs on call for heat, but when the fan is turned “on” the humidifier runs, even when it’s not heating, which I’m happy with because I can just turn the fan to “on” from my thermostat and humidification (water) runs until humidity is satisfied and then shuts off , and fan keeps running. This paired up with a Govee Bluetooth hygrometer, I can monitor the humidity in my home and if I need more I’ll just turn the fan to “on” instead of Auto. The feeling is amazing and feels more healthy to have the humidity. Less dry cracking skin and colds. Great product.

what a great humidifier, easy to install, and works exactly like its suppose too. I got the automatic control panel so it has a outdoor temp sensor. I set it to my comfort and just forget it, it does all the work itself.
I was replacing an old humidifier that stopped working so just remember if this is a new install for you, you’ll need to grab some thermostat wire ( I used 5 pair) and flexible ducting and a 1/4inch water line to do the install.
the instructions were pretty straight forward there is also YouTube videos by the company on how to install it.
I really love this thing and would recommend it to anyone, way better then my old Honeywell system.
