We encapsulated our crawl space and needed a dehumidifier. All the research and recommendations led us to the Aprilaire E100. I was able to connect the condensate drain into the existing drain for the main level HVAC air handler. The setup for this dehu unit was easy, and with our kit they even threw in the Aprilaire controller, which I wired as a remote control and mounted near the crawlspace door. This allowed me to adjust the humidity level without having to crawl all the way back to the unit until I got the initial settings just right. It is working great! We are very happy with this purchase and the overall operation of this unit!

I have three floors and two different hvac units so I bought two of these on a great sale!! So happy I saw this because it was one of the best purchases I have ever made in my life. My second and third level of my house always used to be humid like 55-62% humid and it would annoy me.. so we ended up installing this within the one hvac unit and ohhhh my goodnesss!!!! It only took one night and the next day the humidity went down to 45% !!! The goal we wanted it to be. I’ve not slept so comfortable ever in my life. It feels just absolutely amazing being upstairs. My ac is set at 69 degrees with 45% humidity. we will be installing the second unit for the first level and basement. Very excited to see how that’s going to feel because it tends to get humid when we cook downstairs like 65% even with an hvac. We have an old home that we completely remodeled but still have to get the foundation sealed and stuccos from the outside so we still have some moisture but for now this helps eliminate that issue. Thank you so much for creating this system! It is very quick at its job!! Only took one night to get to our goal humidity %! I recommend 100000%

This replaces a Honeywell Home 120 pint whole house dehumidifier. The 100 pint April Aire has the same footprint as the Larger Honeywell had and I couldn’t fit the larger 130 pint April Aire.
The unit is installed in the HVAC closet in the middle of the house. Since the entire sealed closet is part of the return plenum, I didn’t need to add any ducting. The HVAC fans when the dehumidifier runs.
This unit cycles on and off year round in my 2500 sq.ft. Home in central Florida to supplement the A/C dehumidification. It is needed especially in the winter months when the outside humidity is still too high and the A/C is not running. A constant 50% indoor humidity level is easily maintained year round.
The only negative is the blower noise. The April Aire uses an electrically commutated motor for high efficiency. This one resonates when operating creating a tone that is close to the standard concert A pitch frequency of 440 Hz.
Fans that produce a louder rushing air sound are not as obtrusive as a fan that produces a 440Hz resonating tone. This is not a faulty motor since the first unit was replaced due to the noise and the replacement one has the same sound.

I have a 2700 sq ft 2-story new-build house with hardwood floors on the first floor. We finished the basement as well, adding approximately another 1400 sq ft. The builder told us the first year the house will run humid as the wood from the studs, frame, hardwood, molding, etc dries. He said we need to monitor the humidity level and keep it under 60%. We were consistently 61% – 65%, sometimes reaching as high as 70%+. To make matters worse, the basement had a funky mildew smell, then we noticed mold. In a 4 month old house
We bought this unit to help reduce the humidity throughout. I quickly realized I couldn’t install it properly so I paid an HVAC company to do it. They tied it into our HVAC system in the basement, vented it, ran electrical, etc
Within 24 hours the humidity was reduced to 57% in the first floor and the mildew smell was greatly reduced. Within 48 hours the mildew smell was completely gone and the humidity was down to 55%. The air quality is also significantly better throughout the house
The unit runs pretty much all the time but is super quiet. Sometimes when in the basement I’ll go into the utility room just to make sure it’s on because I can’t hear it
Although it was more than I was initially hoping to pay, this unit has done everything I could have wanted

I bought the Aprilaire EO100 after doing research about crawl space encapsulation and humidity control. Yes, there are less expensive dehumidifiers but the ease of installation, high level of design and features, online installation videos and promise of telephone support from Americans convinced me. It didn’t hurt that the eo100 was discounted $300. I have no love for Chinese designed products. They are a poor substitute for American designed products. I installed the unit on cinder block in my workspace adjacent to the crawlspace as a trial and used a plastic bin to collect water will I figured out how to handle the condensate line. I ran the unit for about 5 hours and it dropped the humidity in my workshop, the size of a one car garage from 72% to 66% humidity with the full size walk-in crawlspace door open. Crawl space itself is less than 2000 sq ft, closed off from the outside with plastic covering on the dirt floor, covered vent openings and Dry loc on subterranean walls. The unit is extremely quiet. It did take some time before water dripped from the condensate opening but once it got started it dripped out continuously. I’m very pleased with this purchase.

This unit was mounted as a standalone unit in the crawl space, and it does a great job. I won’t connect this to the HVAC system. Humidity rises from the basement/crawl space to the top. I was quoted $5,000 to install it with the HVAC, but I don’t see a reason to cover the whole house. I maintain 45-55% humidity from the bottom to the top.
