I was skeptical as to whether or not this was a gimmick item or if it would truly do the job. My husband put it to the test this past weekend and was impressed. He was dispatched to a house fire and his police vest ended up reeking of smoke and fire. This thing got rid of the terrible smell over night. Will definitely be using in the future!

As title notes, the supplied 02 generator isn’t quite enough to power through serious odors, although the bag does a good job of creating a containment environment for that to happen.
I have an O2 generator that will run you out of house and home, and found that it worked EXCEPTIONALLY well with this garment bag (and was able to focus the generous output from my other machine into a small area, which is what I needed).
THAT machine is the size of a large laptop, so if they redesign this Odor Crusher Armor Clean Odor Eliminating & Deodorizing Tactical Hanging Garment Bag with a generator somewhere between the size of a transistor radio and a large laptop, I think they’re golden.
For now, sadly, have to give only 3 stars because I just could not get full results with the provided O2 generator.
Scientifically, I know for a fact that O2 DOES work to eliminate odors, I think we just need more of it in this unit or need a more reliable O2 generator of the smaller size. I have one for my car that’s about the same size as the one with this kit, and it will pretty much run you out of the car as well, so could be there was just a production issue with this round?
I gave this one as many tries as possible, because I truly hate to leave a less than stellar review for something that SHOULD work as planned (and the math adds up – this SHOULD work, even with the smaller O2 generator).
So for now, three stars until the O2 generator issue gets fixed. Happy to upgrade if they will ensure a better product. Otherwise, those deer will smell your Drakkar Noir when you get out of the truck at deer camp…

i couldnt figure out for the life of my how i was going to clean my plate carrier. i dont wear it professionally. just when im pretending to be one. so, this keeps up with my use cycle, no problem.

this works well to rid gear of smells. the ozone smell does not stick which is nice too. it is quiet and fast.

I had really high hopes. I was let down. I gave it a couple of chances. I tried gym equipment (wraps, straps, etc.)- the bag held the stuff pretty well. But no reduction in odor from the ozone generator. I thought that maybe that was a bit extreme, so I thought I’d go to an application listed in the description. I wore a shirt in a room where there was a lot of smoking. Long story short- smelled worse when I took it out than when I put it in.
This has a great look, and the construction is pretty sturdy. It’s great as a small garment bag. The ozone generator just seems gimmicky to me. I won’t recommend it.

Plug in the device to charge it and then read the instructions. The instructions are pretty clear for how to use the device with the bag and other uses without the bag. I noted the top of the unit where it plugs in gets warm while charging.
One thing I thought odd in the instructions was it preferred the 30 minute treatment and yet the shortest time cycle on the device is 60 minutes. I would think they would include a program time cycle for the preferred treatment time. I don’t like the idea of opening the bag while the generator is still running then having to take everything out in order to get to the generator to turn it off. Perhaps they could also put the generator on the access side of the bag instead of requiring disassembly to access the ozone unit.
I am past my days of regular body armor wear. I still have a couple sets for range days and such like that but what I do use now are weight vests for working out. These can get kind of slimy and aren’t really the easiest thing to clean. The advantage of the weight vests is the weights aren’t affected by the ozone so you can just leave it all assembled and put it in the bag.
If you have never worked with ozone generators they have their own distinctive smell, and that smell can linger for a while. The more ventilation the quicker the smell dissipates. Ozone at normal atmospheric pressure (meaning not several miles up) will degrade back to regular O2 oxygen. This is why it prefers a 30 minute wait time after the generator process before opening up and retrieving the items being cleansed. Yet another reason to have a 30 minute cycle included in the program timer, but I digress.
Overall, this is a great idea. The only reason I have to take a star off is the instructions call for a 30 minute cycle with 30 minute rest as the preferred use however the shortest duration timer on the device is 60 minutes. Being close and breathing ozone is not good for most people and this process would require people being in direct contact with the concentrated ozone to get to the device to shut it off. My solution; run it the 60 minute cycle and rest for at least 30 minutes then open it up.
I would like to know more data regarding kevlar in an ozone environment. It’s not an organic so I am puzzled why you would need to remove it to ozone clean the carrier.

Unfortunately I was not able to try this because there is something wrong with the cord. It will only work if it is in a specific position that you have to hold. I tried to see if I could reach out to Odor Crushers but I was not able to find a way to reach out to them.
I really wanted to try this to see if it did what it says, but unfortunately I will not be able to.
