Johnny fordham bad heater left bad review –
After reading several negative reviews on this stove. I was hesitant to order it. This is a good stove. Some reviews say it is wood hungry. It has a small fire box for small space. Some said it was hard to light. I have no issues lighting this stove with the door closed. Some reviews said the stove caused the room to become smoke filled. When loading it up with wood. Again I didn’t experience that. I crack the door open and wait for a few seconds. The draft starts to draw and I load the stove. My wife and I are heating a 800 sf cabin in central Montana mountains with it. This stove is offered at the big box stores for hundreds more. It’s a exhalent price for a exhalent stove. If you need to heat a small space. This is the stove for you.

This is very High Quality. I have used it probably 20 times. I shopped my local Firestove stores and had sticker shock. This item was really competitively priced so I wondered just how good it could be, It’s very Nice , Beautiful. FYI just ready for sticker shock on the install if, you need to have stove pipe installed through your roof as I did. Please make sure you use Contractor who has certification to install Wood Burning Stoves. Blessings to the reader!

Ok.I ordered this Ashley wood heater because I wanted to save on gas this winter.last winter I paid out over $2000 for gas heat. The heater did fairly good the first time I used it.The second time I used it,smoke came out of it pretty bad when I opened the door to put more wood in it.The third time I used it smoke came out of it really bad and the smoke started coming out really bad,so bad we had to open all our windows and turn on all our fans.We came near to calling the fire department. There was no smoke at all coming out of the chimney.Something is wrong with the heater. We are 72 and 70 years old and need something done.We have cleaned walls three times.I am 4 days past return.Help.

We did the homework on this stove to ensure it did all we required. It’s a beautiful stove. Can’t wait for it to be cold enough to fire it up. One inner brick was cracked in half. Otherwise, that was my only complaint. Highly recommend.

Bought and installed last month, November 2022, Oklahoma City now getting a good cold blast so we’re enjoying it. Pretty easy DIY project but the flue pipes cost $1000, more than the stove. I used single wall stove pipe from tractor supply and saved $200 but insurance forced us to fork over big $$ for the above ceiling part. No idea if this project will pay for itself, nat gas is pretty cheap here.
This baby uses a lot of wood and is low efficiency compared to more expensive stoves but I don’t care, my wood is free. It is not a set and forget stove, it needs feeding every hour or so. Actual smoke comes out of the chimney so be sure your neighbors wont complain, also your HOA. So far so good.
April 2023 update. Winter’s over here in OKC and it served us well. A neighbor tore out his oak parquet floor , this became our kindling! Another cut up his deck, we burned it; plus the power company trimmed trees all around us. Lots of free wood. I got a cheap Poulan chainsaw from Amazon and did many favors for neighbors. Earned lots of goodwill. Also got the nice $900 tax credit for the 2022 tax year, that alone paid for half the project.
Now October 2023, eager to get the Ashley going and burn wood from a neighbor’s apricot tree, should be nice.

This stove is perfect for my house. It burns great after a good bed of glowing coals sits under the wood and my wood seasoned under a shed for over a year so it’s dry. The wood lasts anywhere from 1 to 3 hours depending upon the species of the tree and how much I put in there. Usually once I have a good bed of glowing coals in the bottom I can turn the air all the way down and it burns very well. As a matter of fact, my house is at the stove’s limit and with the air at it’s lowest I have to be very careful in the amount of wood I put in it or the temp will run up to 80° or more so after the stove is warmed up I usually just put one piece in it at a time. I’m impressed with it. I would recommend this stove to someone else without reservations. Like others have said before, the air valve doesn’t work smoothly but it isn’t a big deal. Having said all this good stuff, the one thing I didn’t like was when the door came loose with a fire inside the stove. It looks like the e-rings fell off the hinges and the bottom pin worked itself up and out leaving me holding the hot door by the handle and working to reinsert the bottom pin. I got it. Customer service didn’t seem too concerned. The exploded drawings don’t show what holds the pins in place nor do they show the cotter pins that keep the air tubes from sliding out.
