I don’t usually bother with product reviews but I had to for this one. I’ve wanted a kotatsu since I first found out about them, and this one is super nice. I didn’t want to bother with a converter for the plug, and this doesn’t need one. I thought the table might be on the flimsy side, but it’s actually really nice and sturdy and will work well and look good as a coffee table when the weather is warm. It definitely looks like real wood in a light oak shade instead of a fake woodgrain print. Since I’m taller I thought the table might be too short but it’s the perfect height, and the lower part of the legs look like they remove in case you need the table to be shorter instead. The heater is quiet and cozy, and this works with any type of blanket – no need to buy a fancy expensive kotatsu blanket. The instructions are a little hard to read due to small/blurry print, but if you’ve ever assembled a piece of furniture before you can probably manage without them. It was also really well packaged so that nothing could shift around or get broken easily – plenty of foam and wrapping to protect corners. You could probably fit 4 people around the table if they sat cross-legged, perfect for 1-2 people who want to stretch out a bit more. Altogether, I am thrilled with this thing.

I had several issues with the ordering of the table because I ordered through the seller “pallete life” and unfortunately several of their tables colors must be labeled incorrectly. I ordered the natural color and two times in a row they sent white on the second one we noticed that the sorting barcode says natural but the manufacturer’s box says white so they must have been mislabeled.
Thankfully I’ve been able to return both of those and ordered through The seller BJ designs and they sent me the correct color.
The table is quite a bit better than the previous kotatsu I had and I managed to get it on the limited time deal for less than $300. Seems to be made of real wood The top is wood and then has a veneer of a different kind of wood. the heater has a built-in fan to help circulate the heat. it was very easy to put together. One thing I miss is that the table top does not have anything to anchor it down to the main part of the table. It just sits on top with some rubbery pieces to try to stop it from moving. hopefully I can remedy that soon.
For those debating on the natural color version of table, it is more brown and less gray than the picture shows.
And for those curious about the white color tables they are more like a whitewashed wood than a pure white, You can still see the wood grain and its a little bit of a creamy color.

My wife and I love this kotatsu! We don’t like to hear our whole house so this is great. We bought a nice rug to put the kotatsu on, and replaced our couch with the rug/kotatsu set up. I built it myself within 20 minutes. It’s as simple as IKEA furniture and all the hardware and tools are included.
CONS: The only downside is that the veneer shows cosmetic scratches pretty easily. To us it’s just normal wear and tear and we don’t care that much about it, but it’s something to consider.
PROS: It is sturdy and we like the rounded edges of the tabletop. It can comfortably fit six people around it to play board games or eat a meal together. We like using the leg raiser blocks so that we can lie on our sides under the kotatsu. We love the color and the wood grain pattern (even though it’s just veneer haha).
We have one long end of the kotatsu close to a TV and sit across from it. Since one side is “unused” a queen comforter is the perfect size. However, if we used all four sides of the kotatsu regularly, I’d recommend a king comforter.

It works! It’s expensive! I took a big gamble buying something so expensive with no reviews and poor pictures. My intention in buying this was twofold: I wanted a kotatsu as the centerpiece for my living room where my friends could hang out and where I could chill on the ground. I also just wanted a good looking coffee table. I’ll update this review in a few weeks when I’ve used it more regularly.
First things first! The positives!
It looks great. I was kind of surprised? The pictures aren’t the greatest so I wasn’t quite sure. I love the table height extenders because it goes from a nice kotatsu into a nice coffee table.
This is very easy to build. The instructions… kind of sucked though? I felt like it assumes you either have knowledge on how to build furniture already or just have common sense. I do not have either. It took me a minute to figure it out what the instructions were trying to say but once I did, I realized I was just an idiot and it took less than 5 minutes to fully assemble.
Now! To the not so good.
Bottom side of the table top doesn’t look the greatest. YOU WILL NOT see it normally, but I did not like seeing it first thing upon taking everything out.
One of the leg bottoms were cracked! It’s probably not a big issue, but it was a little concerning.
On top of the cracked leg bottom, one of the leg bottoms were a little scuffed – like, it has small splinters on the bottom kind of scuffed. I’ll find out how noticable it is when I move into an apartment without carpet. Right now? Don’t notice it. Picture added.
Overall, I think… This will have been a good investment? Even if I never use the kotatsu function like I plan, this is going to be a good looking coffee table at worst.
I’ll update this entire review in a few weeks after regular use. For now?
If you want a 120v kotatsu that doubles as a coffee table, I think this might work out for you. I did not want to mess with a converter, so this was a blessing in that sense.
