This unit was advertised as quiet, but it quite LOUD, and there is no way of shutting off the noisy fan. This unit is cheaply built and rattles when you move it, unlike our previous radiant heater. If you live in a home with much noise, then you may be ok with this cheaply made unit. If you need quiet to sleep or relax, this is definitely not the unit for you. Will be returning.

Nice and warm. I like the fan. The fan is not really powerful but it is enough to circulate the warm air. We use it on a covered patio with canvas curtains that we can close. Patio is about 8 x 16 feet. It keeps the air fairly warm. It was less expensive than a cheaper heater that only lasted 1 winter and didn’t have a fan.

Worked fine for almost two winters. It pus out a lot of heat as it should at 1500 watts. However,
1) if it gets too hot, it will turn itself off. The orange lamp will go off. You then have to manually turn the switch off and wait ten minutes. After ten minutes, turn the switch back on and it will work again with the orange lamp back on. You do have to wait the full ten minutes. It will not cool off and work on its own. You must turn the switch off and wait ten minutes.
2) Dust gets sucked inside which will cause the heater to overheat prematurely or not work at all at the high setting. The first time this happened, I put a vacuum hose to the intake vent and cleaned it out a bit and it seemed to solve the problem, but only for a few weeks. I suspect I will have to open it up to clean it out correctly. As of right now, the medium setting works fine, but the high setting only works for a few minutes before it over heats. See point 1) above. So we are using it only on medium and it runs all day. However you only get half the heat – 750 watts.
The price just went down to $37.99 which is why I’m giving four stars. If it was still $63.41 which is what I paid two years ago, I’d give it three stars. But decent large 1500 watt quartz heaters at a good price are hard to find these days.

i usually have bad luck when it comes to heaters. i’m a freeze baby so i’m always in need of one and they just keep breaking or turning off frequently. I bought this one on a friends recommendation of infrared and i LOVE IT. it’s taken a beating and still works like new. heats up quickly, adjustable, and even though it’s kinda tall it’s not heavy at all. best heater ever

This is the 4th radiant heater I have tried. The first one caught fire after one year, and the other two broke at the switch in less than one year.
I am looking to the Black & Decker name and hoping this one proves to be a winner. I have had it only a short time, so still have a long ways until it gets my full seal of approval 😊

I Am VERY Impressed!! I don’t even get Half Way through the temperature dial setting, (Only about 1/4 to be Exact), and I HAVE To Turn It Down or my room will Literally Be Like An OVEN In No Time!! It Runs Smoothly, Quietly And Packs The POWER Without Shutting Itself Off Too Soon!! VERY *HOT* HEATER Here!! I got it to replace a Holmes brand heater of the same general design because it’s Temperature Sensor Switch WAS Turning Itself Off WAY Before my room got even Decently Warm as it was Very Old and this heater was EXACTLY What I Needed to replace it with For Those Icy, Cold Winter Mornings that are headed our way this winter season!! GREAT HEATER!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! 😉

Finding so noisy but hey I asked on zoom no one seems to hear it but me o all good whatever right it does the job serves it’s purpose

I started to notice it having the power light go out, and I checked everything and found the tip switch on the bottom is shorted out when it is flat on the floor, so I tipped it back about mid way of thee switch, and the power came back on.
I would fix it before I send it back for that, if I can get a replacement part from them. I am going to ask, and if they want me to send it back I will just bypass that switch.
I live in a small camper with the walls close to 1 inch thick, so it get cold, and cost too much for propane heat. Then when I use the propane heater I can stand in front of it and it barely gets warm, but this heater can get the temperature up to 75 degrees when it is 28 degrees outside. I don’t want it to get hotter than that, unless I am making bread. I was using another brand and it would heat it up to 68 when it is 28 outside, but at times it would be as low as 66 inside. One of the heating rods burned out, and I ordered this a week before it burned out, so it is still cold, and I need heat.
That is why I don’t want to send it back, unless I get a replacement first, or the rest of that tip switch burn out and I am force to bypass it.
I talked to them and I can keep the heater and I get 30% back to replace the switch.
