It’s better to install with the magnet and when the humidor is dry. I used my own double sided tape, construction grade. Two full packs in the tray can be a bit heavy.

My last humidor, just like the majority of the ones that are in the market today, came with the hygrometer and the humidifier unattached with their respective metal plates and magnets for freedom of positioning. So I threw both of them away and bough an electronic hygrometer and of course this Boveda packet holder.
It looks wonderful, matches the color of my humidor’s inner walls, and is very resistant (contrary to the low-rating posts in this section). You just need to follow the instructions provided with the QR code printed in the box and you will be just fine. First clean the surface of the humidor and of the packet holder itself with a cloth (NOT paper) impregnated with a small amount of rubbing alcohol; this will get rid of the microscopic particles of wood and dust that reduce the effectiveness of the adhesive. Then you can go ahead and paste the metal plate on the lid/top of the humidor and the magnet to the packet holder. The key is to apply constant pressure for at least 2 minutes and then leave the items unattached for 24 hours. If you go ahead and place the packed holder on the humidor, the weight will make it fall off (and again, and again, and again…) and the items will be useless until you get a hold of new adhesive films. That’s it, the next day you can put your packet holder on the humidor lid and it will be sturdy for a long time.

This thing is very well made! It’s definitely 100% cedar (smells awesome). There are no seams or rough edges in the wood, and it’s the perfect size. One of the major benefits of the Boveda packs are they can be stashed away anywhere in your humidor. I was worried this might be a little on the large side and negate that feature, but it’s actually a fair balance between being thin enough to stay low-profile while being thick enough to be rigid and strong.
It comes with a magnet kit: a metal plate, a magnetic sheet, and double-sided foam adhesive. This is so that you can remove the holder to make removing and inserting Boveda packs easier. However, the magnet kit is a little on the thick side, so that might further detract from the thinness of just the Boveda packs themselves, which is a primary quality that makes them so handy. Beware: the adhesive sheet is quite large, so if you decide to use it, just know that you’ll probably never get it off if you want remove it later. Since my humidor is large enough, I opted to skip the magnet kit and attach the holder directly to the lid of my humidor. (If you decide to do this, make sure you still have enough room to slide the packs in and out!)

I love magnetic tape solution. I don’t like rip velcro every time. But the problem is – it is not holding on the lid of humidor. Bought two Boveda pack holders. I have two glasstop humidors. I cleaned the glass with 91% alcohol, but adhesive side not hold its own weight. Both of them. Wondering to use thin double side tape, maybe it will help.
Other then this issue the holder is great. When Boveda improves magnetic tape adhesive it will be 5 stars.
Updated (7/18/23) – Boveda has contacted me second day. After few messages we found a solution. Magnetic tape is now working perfectly. Thank you and 2x 5 stars (product + support)

Used it inside a pelican case with two 65% humidity packs for storing cigars was able to get the dimensions from the description and made my purchases ! It’s been months hott and cold and my cigars are aging well no mold or anything I think the holder and additional cedar wood pieces I have inside my sealed box absorbs more moisture than the cigars so I might switch to 69% or higher so my cigars can stabilize to the humidity I’m looking for.

Bottom line is that it’s mostly great; it holds two large Boveda packets perfectly and appears to be of good quality real Cedar. The only drawback is the magnetic mounting system, and even then it’s not all bad.
The magnetic system has two parts, a metal plate and a magnetic plate, both of the same size. The official instructions are to stick the metal plate on the humidor and the magnet to the holder, then let them sit for 24 hours before actually attaching the holder to the humidor. I followed these instructions, and it was fine for almost 48 hours after everything was all set and installed, then the weak point became clear as the adhesive on the magnet lost it’s grip on the holder. The bottom line is that the magnet is plenty strong, and the adhesive on the metal plate appears to be plenty strong, but I can’t get the magnet to stick to the holder for more than 24 hours no-matter what I do.
Thankfully, I always keep some N45 neodymium magnets with 3m adhesive backing on hand for exactly this sort of situation. They are much smaller than the massive brick magnet that came with this kit and have a much better adhesive, so just two 5/8”x1/16″ magnets are currently doing the job that the included magnet could not.
Overall though I’m pleased with the purchase, I just wish they would’ve included a better magnet system in the first place.

It’s a nice option for bigger humidors and nicely made for 2 Bovida packs but the adhesive just doesn’t cooperate i ended up glueing one side of magnet to top of my cabinet which isn’t really a big deal
