Used Crane drop gallon humidifiers for about 8 years before buying this. Have tried several styles and brands over years, but Crane does it best. And this is their best humidifier yet!
I’m really sensitive to dry winter air and having a humidifier going all winter has been a huge improvement in my quality of life.
Pros:
-First *actually* easy to clean humidifier I’ve ever found. Most humidifiers, including a lot of other Crane models, have nooks and crannies you can’t reach by hand, or even the most strategically bent bottle brush, that start to build a reddish or black mold over time even when you’re diligent about cleaning. I love that the removable parts on this just go in the top rack of my dishwasher and that the interior of the humidifier is simple and wide open so I can just stick my hand in and easy wipe away anything I need to.
-It takes about 3 weeks before I notice any stuff starting to grow, compared to 2-7 days with most humidifiers. I use tap water, so my process is descale then sanitize. I sprinkle baking soda over bottom and sides, add vinegar, then go over it with a sponge. Rinse out a few times with warm water. Then fill to max line with hot water plus about a tablespoon of bleach and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly! Voila!
-Top fill! I use a gallon jug that I fill in my kitchen sink and then just easily dump in the top of the humidifier. No more leaving a trail of water drops through the house. I’m a little baffled by reviewers who unplug and lug the whole humidifier to the sink for every refill. Just use a pitcher, watering can, jug, etc.
-1.2 gallon tank runs for about 14 hours on high. I run it 24/7 on high and just fill it every 12ish hours. (Anytime you aren’t running it but there’s still water be sure to remove the lid or you’ll likely start growing funky stuff. Not a defect of the product; just science and the nature of any humidifier.)
-Doesn’t need a filter. You don’t have to track down and replace any niche parts.
Con:
-While there is no machine/fan noise, the bobber thing in the mist chamber does rattle around a bit sometimes as it’s pushed up and down by the mist. I initially had this in my bedroom, but found that the noise was just enough to disturb my sleep. I moved it to the nearby living room around a corner and sleep with my door open. If it had to be in my bedroom I’d figure out a solution for the rattle (earplugs, white noise, tinkering with the mist chamber, etc) rather than buy a different humidifier. The combination of the pros are worth it and I haven’t found anything comparable for sale in the US for under $100.

This item does not work for me as it doesn’t have a filter like my other one for hard water. Trying to return it but Amazon is telling me it is not returnable….I haven’t even use it once. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

I love this humidifier. It is so easy to refill from the top. That was the biggest pain I have with other ones since I used large bottles of distilled water and not tap. There is a blue light that stays on all the time. Which is not a huge deal breaker for me even though I like pitch black for sleeping. I like the night light function with the changing colours when I am just relaxing in bed. The only thing I wish was that it was easier to tell which setting it was on for humidity strength. I woke up one morning and the floor was soaked so obviously I had it on too high. It is also super quiet. Overall I highly recommend.

Using this Crane humidifier for about 5 days. Surprised at how big it is but it’s not a problem. So far, works well. Very easy to fill from gallon container of distilled water and clean. The water level sensor isn’t removable, so I suspect it may be a bit difficult to clean. The nebulizer is removable so it’s extremely easy to clean. It’s even dishwasher safe. Lights are soothing in a darkened room but a bit too bright for sleeping. Just lightly touch the control button to turn the light off. The unit does make a bit of a puh, puh noise when the water is getting low but not enough to wake me when sleeping. Vast improvement over other humidifiers I’ve had. I did see that some reviewers complained that it stopped working after a short time. I hope this doesn’t happen, but I will update if that occurs.

I replaced my Crane tear drop looking humidifier with this one and I’m happy I did. I liked the previous one as I didn’t need anything fancy, just something to help humidity during the winter. I really didn’t want anything too fancy or complicated and trying to find a simple one with good reviews and in my budget turned out to be a little difficult. I LOVE the top fill feature as filling the tear drop one was cumbersome and clunky to fill. This one is also much easier to clean as there are less nooks and crannies inside. The middle tower twists out so you can clean that separately. The top light feature is really cool but I don’t really use it. I’d say on the low setting, I can get about 3 nights of use out of it at about 7 hours. My only complaint is I wish the little on/off light etc. would turn off completely. It does have the sleep feature but one of them doesn’t go out completely if I remember correctly. Overall, the light thing isn’t a deal breaker for me and I’m really pleased with this humidifier.

I bought this after a dismal experience with a more expensive brand that would shoot just a small amount of vapor, which rapidly fell to the floor. This Crane humidifier is super quiet, has delightful colored light [that you can turn off] and increases the humidity in my bedroom by10-20 % points by the time I wake up. It shoots a strong flow of water vapor, which mostly dissipates into the air as opposed to falling right back down. It is so easy to fill and to clean, because it’s just a big open cavity.

I live in Denver and it gets really dry here in the winters. I have had this thing for over a year now and I refill it daily. The top fill is really convenient, I just put it in the sink and wait for it to fill up. It lasts probably about 15 hours before needing to be filled again. Releases a huge amount of moisture into the air. You can hear the faint hum of the fan, but it’s not loud at all and doesn’t bother me when I sleep. Only change I would make is making the plug removable. You have to haul the entire humidifier to the sink to refill it which means unplugging it every time. I have it plugged in behind a dresser, so I have to kind of reach back there and fish the wire out. Would be much nicer to just unplug from the device and keep plugged in.

Huge capacity, very quiet & easy to use . Also, you can add your favourite essential oil. Highly recommended.
