EV1 –
Arrived via UPS dented on both sides. Took three days longer than expected.
The thing looked like a floor model. And no, that’s not what we paid for.
Assembly “instructions” are virtually useless: missing screws, has parts that don’t fit, incomprehensibly deranged install directions.
Scouring the Internet delivered not one exact unit install video or text source. It did however lead to Reddit reviews by angry customers.
Wi-Fi? If you have a 5G wireless system you are SOL, unless you log in to your router and mess with configurations. Why?!
We paid over $1,000.00 for a 14,000 btu unit because I am old enough to remember when Freidrich was not garbage but a quality product. Not so anymore, like most name brands of the past they bank on prior reputation to sell overpriced crap.
Apparently, the extra effort and cost involved in publishing a decent install and operations manual is beyond the scope of these “quality” conscious manufacturers.
After brute forcing and MacGuyver-ing this thing I got it installed and running.
How long will it last? WTFK?
Never again!
Everything that involves commerce and consumer goods, especially via on-line delivery is decaying into a crap shoot. Amazon used to offer much better service and perks…not anymore. Brand names are meaningless except for the likelihood you’re paying more for the same quality thing from a manufacturer with a name with no vowels.
Everything is a virtual rental or subscription no matter what you think. It lasts orders of months, maybe years if you’re lucky and then you just buy another piece of junk. Our next A/C will likely be a “PeePoopDay Air Colder for U,” For one third the price…and we just have to replace it every two to three years (if we’re lucky). The days of appliances made in the USA that lasted LITERALLY decades are over. It’s all throw-away garbage.
No more Prime, no more name brand trust, the whole boat load is heading for the crapper.
We have the Uni-Fit, 14kbtu, 230volt unit.
