We’ve been looking for cooling solutions for years as our shop is in Arkansas 5 minutes away from the Mississippi river. Needless to say it gets insanely hot. Last week every day it was 110 degrees with over 65% humidity.
I’ve been looing at the porta cooler which looks amazing but its very expensive and I would need several to keep the entire shop cool. I tried the Power Breezer and it totally sucks. For 5 grand you get a high powered fan that blows a water mist, but anyone working in real heat and humidity knows that fans don’t do anything but blow around hot air which doesn’t help. Enter the hessaire portable cooler….This thing is amazing. Its light weight easy to use, and blows a good powerful blast of cool air. The guys in the shop couldn’t be happier and its been helping them work harder. I doubled down and just bought 5 more units so I have 7 total and still its cheaper than just buying one porta cooler or one power breezer, and now I can put coolers around the whole shop.

I’m very bothered by the fact that after spending almost $800 the unit was delivered in a condition that would suggest it had been used, and all literature attached instructs the customer to Contact HessAire – yet there is No Customer Support contact number in the literature with the delivery or on the Compamy Website!! The Company Website only offers a form to fill out so that HessAire can contact you!!
Seriously? There is even an insert that Say STOP!!! READ THIS FIRST …. It provides a cute picture of a telephone and a picture of a Customer Service Representative, but again, never the actual number just the illusive reference to a person that can be reached. That is a concerning position for the Company to take.

After receiving my unit I had an issue with the float valve. I contacted the company I purchase from and they handled it expeditiously. This is an upgrade form the MC37V. I detail cars in my garage (660 square feet) which has been insulated. I live in Arizona and the summer heat is brutal inside a garage. I have the MC37V which is rated at 930 sq ft. If I have my side door open and the unit in front of it and the garage down to about 6-10 inches it will keep the garage at about 90 degrees in 110 + heat. At times I will add an additional fan to assist blowing the air around. Not quite comfortable enough for me. I upgraded to this MC61V for 1,600 sq ft of coverage. The MC61V is perfect for my 660 sq ft garage. It can get the temps down to the mid 80’s in the extreme heat and the fan is sooo much stronger than the MC37V. I found it best to watch the Hessaire videos on you tube for running the machine. Tipping the box upside down when you receive it to put the wheels on 1st helps out tremendously. Other than that it’s pretty much plug and play. We have extremely hard water here in the desert so scaling is an issue. The only relief I have found is purchasing the Portacool Hard Water treatment bars in Amazon. So far they have worked. I follow the recommendation and replace every 30 days. I received a box with 4. The big difference between the two units is when you need to clean or replace the elements the MC61V has two screws in the top back and the panel is split in two, so it’s very easy to remove the back panel and the elements. These are perfect for hot dry climates. We do get monsoonal weather and when the humidity is up these coolers do not cool that well. But when the weather is hot and dry these are a must! Hope this helps.

My unit must have taken a fall during shipping because it arrived slightly damaged with the back vent corner smashed in. After taking it apart and inspecting it, only a few of the plastic tabs were damaged. Not really worth the trouble of returning it.
It’s fairly loud even on low, but it moves a ton of air so it’s to be expected I guess.
I had to adjust the pads and the spider a few times to get good water coverage over the pads and stop water from hitting the fan, but I finally got it dialed in.
Even though it’s pricey, being able to use your back porch or garage in the middle of 115°F days is priceless. This unit will drop the air temp from 115°F to 85°F or from 100°F to 75°F. As long as you get some of that air blowing on you it’s comfortable no matter how hot it is.

I am using this cooler in my shop. It has been over a 100 degrees and the humidity has been running around 70-80% so an evaporation cooler is not as efficient as it would be in a climate with less humidity. That being said, it still makes a major difference if I keep it close and stay pretty much in front of it.
Yesterday we had an unusual day with humidity of only 20%. Temp was still a little over a 100. The unit performed extremely well in those conditions !

The swamp cooler works very well, yes it’s cheaper than other options so things may not be perfect. I took mine apart and checked hardware upon receiving it, greased the motor and vane servo. The fan in this sucker is SHARP, if you happen to stick your hand into it while it’s running it will cut your finger to the bone. 10/10 would cut finger again.

This cooler works! Has ample airflow! I hardly find myself using the max speed unless I’m trying to dry out the pads. The louvers are fantastic. If I’m standing I can point them up to my chest and head, if I’m laying on the ground working under a vehicle I can point them down and still get air. I can use the swing function to aim the airflow left or right or just let it keep swinging for dispersion. It has higher flow than my 16inch PortACool and is within 1-2°f of it in cooling capability. Such a small margin I can’t tell without a thermometer.
The only downside is the tank is small. I can run through the water in about an hour. This isn’t really the fault of the machine as it’s an evaporative cooler and is designed to use water. Luckily, the unit has a float on it so I can leave a water hose hooked up and it stays full. Not a huge deal if you have nearby access to water next to the cooler.
