I received my Krypton Guard just in time to welcome my friends and family for the Holidays! What I like about this unit is that it sits nicely in my main room and will provide protection for all of us when visiting. I became aware of this company years ago and found out they only sell to government and was excited to see this unit available for purchase. I recently moved and have no idea what to expect in my new area, but now I feel protected to enjoy the Holidays sharing space will my loved ones.

After extensive research on FAR UV 222nm lights, I reached out to three different companies. FAR UV Technologies was the only one that engaged in direct conversation with me about their devices and answered all my questions. We are COVID-safe and I needed a portable option for work.
I am impressed that FAR UV Technologies has government contracts, and their products are used in nursing homes. We ourselves had someone in our home who tested positive for COVID the next day, but this person spent most of their time in our home in the path of our Krypton Shield lamp, and no one else in the same space (5 other people interacted with this person) got COVID.
The light itself is surprisingly lightweight (4 pounds total), and the tripod is easy to set up. Because it’s so tall (you have to lift the light to 109″ or higher), the whole lamp is at risk of toppling over, so we created a small gate around it (we used an old dog pen) so that kids or animals running past the base can’t knock it over.
It is very easy to disassemble and reassemble, as we did for a larger indoor gathering (with air filters, masking, etc.). No COVID transmission occurred there, either.
You do want to take into consideration room size when determining how much coverage the lamp will give. Instructions provided by the company help you to know where the “safety zones” is in relation to the light itself. The closer the better, of course, for higher coverage that kills virus.
The relief of having a layered safety approach (we use the Krypton Shield lamp as well as HEPA/MERV13 filters, an Aranet CO2 monitor, and open windows as needed) has been worth the cost of the Krypton Shield lamp. I think that FAR UV should be implemented in schools, public buildings, mass transit, etc. and I hope that more private businesses adopt this technology so we can get out of this pandemic, but also so that higher air quality standards can be improved overall.
