We purchased this LG 10000 BTU (cools 450 Sqft ) to help keep our master bedroom cool when our AC quit working this summer. Our bedroom is large (300 square feet) with a 14′ ceiling, so we needed something capable of cooling that space. This LG definitely does the job! It is heavy, but the wheels make it easy to maneuver, setup was easy, and the directions were straightforward. This is capable of cooling our entire bedroom to the point where it is almost too cold.
Upon the initial setup, it cooled our large bedroom by 5 degrees within the first 30 minutes. We wanted the bedroom around 70 degrees, and it keeps it at the temp without any issues whatsoever. I’m not sure why some reviewers mention the noise level. We keep it on the medium fan speed at night while we sleep and it is very quiet. Of course you can hear it, but as far as we’re concerned, it’s much quieter than we imagined it would be for a unit this size. It’s expensive, but it’s been really hot here in Florida in the summer. This AC really saved us when we got in a jam. We would definitely purchase this again.

I’ve not had it too long but I’ve used 3 different portable ACs this summer and this is the quietest of them. It also does a good job of cooling my room. Seems like I finally found a winner

I am thrilled with this monster of a unit. I love it. I have always used window units but have upgraded to a new window last fall where the old school style a/c can’t go in without some sort of brace/shelf to hold it. On top of it, it was breaking the window sill with weight over time so I’ve been eyeballing a fix.
Along came this unit at a fabulous price. I use separate a/c in my master upstairs because it’s always hotter than downstairs and I learned, keep downstairs at 74-76, use unit upstairs to keep it chilled nicely. A excellent way to save $ on electric and house heat pump.
This unit delivers!!!!! It’s only spring in Georgia, but I needed it our first day of mid 70’s. Man, this bad boy chills. It does have some sound to it. I have mine in my master closet that has a window so it’s about 15 feet from the bed. I am used to a window unit noise so I don’t mind it at all. I know it’s bringing that sweet coolness to my domain lol.
One thing about this unit that I don’t understand at all. The piece that slides into the vented piece that goes in the window to block the opening must be cut to fit. The vent takes up space and blocks the ability to slide the extender into a normal 32″? window. I had to get a girlfriends man to cut it. It worked but there was zero info on anything about this. I was going to call the company but decided to put info on review.
All in all, I definitely recommend this unit. My windows are free from getting damaged and I must say, the exterior look at the house with this style of unit is much nicer than the old style bulge.

The item shows up in its original box, no extra packing, plug it in, it makes a clattering noise first thing, AC does not blow cold, no doubt bad handling and bad packaging, now I have a heavy large piece of garbage in my living room. Thanks a Lot!

I haven’t had this AC for long but it is excellent so far. I was a bit concerned when I saw it is for a 300 sq ft space as I had intended to get one for a 550 sf room. It keeps the area it’s in very cold despite the heat outside and old leaky windows and the adjoining living room at a comfortable temperature. Was considering buying another as my bedroom AC is a bit old. The accessory wasn’t the proper size for my window as it’s too narrow to fill the space around the vent so check your dimensions.

This paragraph is my summary. I’m comparing this unit against another LG in-window unit. Both units are great at cooling a room. This portable unit lacks features that the in-window unit has. This is why my Overall rating is 4/5 stars. At this price point, I’d like to see this unit gain the “Energy saver” mode and full scheduling features that the LG in-window unit has has.
My room measures 18 x 20 feet.
First some power measurements…
LP1022FVSM in Off/Standby mode: 3.70 – 4.85 watts
Power draw Fan Modes:
Fan only, lowest setting: 15.2 watts
Fan only, medium setting: 20.0 watts
Fan only, highest setting: 33.6 watts
Up/Down swing: (Closed position reduces the wattage of the above settings. For instance Low was at 10.3 watts closed, and 15.2 watts full open.)
Power draw in Air Conditioning mode:
Min: 15 watts -AC compressor turns off when the room temp (72F) is below the setpoint (74F).
Max: 1,109 watts
Maintaining current room temp of 72F, outdoor temp 80F: 299 watts average
Sound results: (non-scientific, measured at 3 feet from unit with a phone app)
AC low speed: 42-47 dB at 186 hz
AC high speed: 53-58 dB at 160 hz
Note on sound, the fan turbulence is the greatest source. The compressor makes a quiet purring sound.
I own an LG LW1222IVSM 1,2k BTU in-window unit and this LG LP1022FVSM 1,0k portable unit.
I purchased this portable unit to replace an older, but still working, Whynter ARC-122DS. I found this LG LP1022FVSM to be superior in every way to my old portable AC unit. It cools quicker and does so at a lower sound level. Drawing less energy and running quieter. LG appears to have spent a lot of time hushing the motor noise. They did a very good job.
The software/app allows me to schedule when to turn the unit on and off. I’d like to see the software features expand to include scheduling temperature setting and fan speed. This unit does not offer an automatic mode balancing the fan speed and cooling capacity.
