I received two boxes, one day apart, 3-4 days after placing the order.
The first box was the electric fireplace insert, so I got to play around with it before installing. Decent unit, which they sell separately for (currently) $109. The fire effect is actually pretty good, but if they swapped out the red bulbs for a different yellow/orange shade than the other bulbs, it would be even better. The red is too, well, red for real fire. It has three light levels, which is nice, so you can turn it down while watching a movie. The heat function is separate from the lights, too. My only real complaint is that the fan is single-speed, and it’s pretty loud. It would be better to have a quieter low speed option. I looked briefly at other 23″ inserts (just thinking down the road), but most are taller. Not sure if any will be usable without modification.
The second box contained the surround. It was far more solid than I had expected it to be. Quite heavy actually, which I consider a good thing. Putting it together wasn’t too bad, though it did take a little bit of time. As others have mentioned, there are one or two steps where the screws have to self-tap, so having an awl and/or small drill bit to start it is helpful. The only noticeable gaps are where the top middle piece meets the two side-front pieces. I have the exact same gaps in the molding strip as another reviewer showed. It might have been better to make that whole top-front section one piece all the way across with the seem at the bottom of the molding. Not too big of a deal, though.
The whole thing is just a little smaller than I had pictured in my mind. In particular, the stocking that is shown hanging from the mantle in the one photo must be pretty small, because ours would cover the top of the fireplace insert, including the heat vent. My fault for not really measuring it out. Next year, it may go up to my bedroom, so I can replace it with something a little bigger. Still, it is a good deal for the price.
As an aside: I’m sure most people realize that this needs a 3-prong outlet. It is also recommended that it be run on a 20A breaker with 12-2 wiring and a 20A outlet. A 15A breaker with 14-2 may work, but it won’t have the recommended safety factor. Consult your electrician for their recommendations.

I received the fireplace and the insert showed up 1 month later. The quality of the fireplace is poor, drip marks loose pieces . I asked to return and was issued a tag that I had to pay the postage. When you receive a defective item the postage should be paid by the shipper. I will follow up with Amazon. Very frustrated!

I’ve never owned a fireplace. I’ve never lived in a house with a fireplace. This thing is freaking awesome. We love it and we use it all the time. It doesn’t make of fire, crackling noise, and you can hear it. No it is not as loud as the video shows. I’m sure if it really bothered you. You could buy a new insert at a later time. But I wanted to put it in the video so people knew. It was easy to build, honestly it’s really good quality and looks so pretty! And the heat works great!

Looks great in my small livingroom, and the heater has a good blower , had many compliments, I wanted it taller so my husband built me a narrow box for it to set upon, about 7 inches in height, painted it white and wha- la..im very happy with it

Fairly easy to assemble- less than an hour with 2 people. Looks very nice- very happy with how it looks and how sturdy it feels. I wish I could buy a second one but they are no longer in stock and not sure when more will be in. If I had to pick one issue it would be the fake flames- almost looks real but then there are some weird red streaks in it that just don’t look right. Still a beautiful piece overall

This electric fireplace/heater is gorgeous! It really made our living room look very classy as well as nice and toasty now during these cold winter days! The package came in two separate parts with the heater arriving one and the mantle arriving a couple days later. Totally worth the wait and for the price you really can’t beat it! It was very easy to assemble and everything was labeled perfectly! Highly recommend buying this product you won’t go wrong!

It was easy to assemble. It works as expected and looks great. A couple of annoyances are some small gaps in decorative borders. Side panel was slightly cracked , but not noticable once assembled. I would buy again. For the price, I doubt you will find better.

Got it to add a little extra heat for the winters. Measured twice, ordered the size that fit just right in the bedroom between the floor vent and the bedroom door. Easy assembly and the instructions were clear. Solid unit, although I did add a little wood glue to the wooden assembly pegs to give it a little extra strength. Works well and puts off a good amount of heat. The color is amazing! (acessories on top and mirror not included)
