I bought the necessary natural gas hose, brass fittings, and on/off valve to connect this heater to the gas line supplying my fireplace insert. This is the radiant heat version (as opposed to the blue flame version). I have owned both and find that the radiant heat version does a better job of projecting heat into the room. The blue flame version sends all the heat to the ceiling.
This unit has a low (5000 btu) and a high (10000 btu) setting. We use it mostly on the low setting to supply supplemental heat to the house. You might ask, why not just use the gas fireplace insert? Well, my fireplace insert is vented, so it is at best 75% efficient. This heater is non-vented and sends 100% of the heat of combustion into the room and doesn NOT pull in cold outside air to replace what the fireplace sends up the chimney.
In my area, natural gas costs around 1 cent per cubic foot. Once cubic foot of natural gas releases around 1000 btu’s of heat. Running the heater at the 5000 btu/hr setting, my natural gas cost is around 5 cents per hour. (or 10 cents per hour on the high setting.) While 5000 btu’s or 10000 btu’s per hour will NOT heat my whole house, it does cause the whole house furnace to come on less frequently.
Another bonus is that this heater and others like them will work when the electric power is out. Thus, it is a good emergency heat source to have in your home.

Muy buen producto. Tiene dos radiantes y dos temperaturas. Puede empotrarse a la pared o ponerse con sus patas en el suelo.
Suficiente para una Rea regular

I already had the next size up that has the temperature control and when I decided to buy another one, that one was no longer available so I opted for this one. It only has two heat setting: Hi and Low. When heat isn’t need it can just be set on pilot. I use this to heat a space 10 X 25 that is well insulated. When I come up here this winter it’s generally 58 degrees as the heater isn’t on over night. The other heater is downstairs so some heat seeps up here overnight. I turn this onto Hi and very quickly have to turn it down to low as it heats up so fast. I came up here today, forgot to turn it down to low as fast as I generally do, and it is now up to 78 degrees after about 35 minutes. So now it’s turned down to pilot. That’s typically how it has been here this winter where our nights have generally been near zero every night for the past couple of months. If you are going to be in the space while running the stove making the adjustments isn’t a problem but you can’t walk away with this type of stove as it will continue to heat and it can get pretty hot. It’s like having a wood burner and having to chuck in a piece of wood now and then, or if it’s getting too warm, letting it cool down for awhile. If you need one to have a thermostat on it, like my other model, they work perfectly, but this model doesn’t do that. I had a Rennai vented heater here in this space for about 20 years and it finally had to be replaced. This model isn’t vented, so you have to be aware of the potential danger in accumulated gasses. I handle it this way: I have a wall vent here and downstairs and both are on a timer. Up here the vent blades are smaller so I have it come on more often which is 8 times a day for five minutes. There is a lot of fresh air that comes through in that five minutes! It’s necessary to have some opening to the outdoors though for the vent fan or it can’t pull air through. I leave a downstairs window partly open which more than does the job for both the downstairs as well as the upstairs. You don’t want the combustion gasses to build up inside your space. All in all, this is definitely doing the job, and for the low price is worth buying.

I love this heater, throws a lot of heat but does not have a fan, no worrisome batteries. Easy to assemble! Again Excellent product.

The description for this heater should say in bold Red or Black “NO THERMOSTAT WITH THIS MODEL”
Fighting to exchange for one with thermostat. Terrible company!
