I chose this heater as it had many good reviews. The day it came via UPS I filled it with kerosene and turned it on. Ran for 10 seconds and shut down. Tried again 10 seconds and shut down. Feeling discouraged I started the return process thru Amazon and the site said “item is not returnable”. I call customer service and they start a return thru the vendor. Amazon tells me vendor will contact you in a couple days to start return. I try the heater one more time and bingo it ran and kept running. All I can guess is the fuel line needed a prime. Runs well and very little smell. Thumbs up

Unbox, filled with Diesel 2, plugged in and. hit the switch. Toasty in less that 10 minutes in a 400 Sq Ft poorly sealed workshop. After running for 10 minutes, outside was touchable on top of the tube. Could rest hand on it. Added additional rubber feet on underside of fuel tank to keep from scuffing the paint up. Only had to screw on the carry handle. No assembly otherwise. Use common sense in closed areas. Invest in a Monoxide detector. Combustion is clean but why take chances.

Great heater for shop, shed or construction where you do have ventilation. I use it to take the chill of our shed in Montana where it can get quite cold.
Easy to assemble. Has worked without a problem every time I have fired it up. Heats up my 16×28 shed in a 10-20 minutes or so depending on ambient temperature. I am using #2 fuel oil.
When full the unit can be a bit heavy to carry around. I do recommend a wheeled caddy of some kind for two reasons: ease in moving around shop and elevating the unit a little farther off the floor just to be a bit safer. Carefully read the owner’s manual and follow their recommendations and safety guidelines. I am very happy with my unit and would buy it again.

I’ve got a small workshop in my garage but this has been an exceptionally cold winter and I was looking for a relatively inexpensive way to heat my work area. I’m happy to say that Mr. Heater does a great job!
It arrived yesterday and today was my “trial run”. I added the extension guard that was included because I trust the Canadian government’s safety recommendations. As much as I tried, I couldn’t find any kerosene so I decided to get 5 gallons of diesel from my local gas station. I did see that some of the “box stores” listed it on their websites but the price was horrendous!
I was concerned about the potential smoke/smell when I first turned it on, so I placed it just outside the garage door and hit the switch. By the way, you’re going to need to dedicate an extension cord to this heater because the plug has a very short length – maybe 4″. I used one of my shorter outdoor extension cords (grounded). There wasn’t any smoke or awful diesel smell – just lots of heat! The blower is a bit louder than I thought it would be but I can just turn the music up to compensate. When I started the heater, it was 44 degrees in the garage. After 10 minutes, it was 62 degrees – and climbing! I placed the unit on the concrete floor and made sure there wasn’t anything combustible near it or in the path of the heat while it was running or cooling down.
I’m very pleased with my purchase and just need to get more diesel to replace what I used to fill the tank. By the way, I used a battery operated transfer pump to get the fuel out of the 5-gallon container into the heater’s tank and it worked perfectly – no heavy lifting!
Good luck with your heating solutions, I have mine!

Purchase this two winters ago, it kept our garage and shop very warm. Still in great working order

i did not give 5 stars for 2 reasons; the first is the fuel cap. any movement of the unit and the fuel will slosh around and spew out of the cap vent…not a good thing with flammable liquids. the second reason is poor documentation as the users manual falls short in the troubleshooting area. my unit would turn off after 3-5 minutes. i’d let it cool down for about 5 min and restart. same thing would happen over and over again. the manual only says the end cone should be cherry red and it was. i took a guess the unit was getting too hot and turned down the fuel pressure to the point the cone was moderately pink. success! i have the heater in my garage connected to a thermostat to keep the area above freezing and to take the chill out when i’m working. it now works as intended.
overall it works great now. the heated area is 600 sq ft. it starts up and shuts down by itself with the thermostat. i’m not sure how long 4 gal of #2 will last as i don’t run it consistently on and the garage is insulated as well. my impression it will last more than a couple weeks…..depending on outside temps of course. i’d buy it again. if the manufacture were to correct the two reasons noted above (easy to do) i’d give it 5 stars.
2yr update…..upgraded to 5 stars. After the initial issue adjusting the pressure, this has performed flawlessly. I really need this to keep my garage above freezing during the winter. So far so good. If it ever does crap out, I’ll buy another. it’s that good.

This little guy has been a reliable heater. No complaints, and it came with free prime shipping, can’t beat that.
Make sure you have a funnel to pour your K1 or K2 in the tank, it can be a huge problem without one.
I’ve used mine in some obscure ways and have found that it does have a built in safety feature that will not allow it to run when the ambient incoming temperature is above 110-120 degrees F. What this means is if you were planning to use this onsite to dry out some drywall or wood in a large space this WOULD work fine… however if you wanted to bring an enclosed room to about 140 degrees you may have to get creative for it has an auto-shutoff. (Used it to treat a couple bed bug problems, probably not the safest idea.. but it saved me $10k <— wouldn't try this.)
Great Heater.
