This does not work at all. Not only does it not do what it says in keeping the water purified and humidifier cleaner longer – it has done the opposite.
I have a young baby with a cold, so have been running the humidifier more and am also a lot more focused on keeping it clean. To start, I thoroughly cleaned the machine and base, refilled with clean water, and used the drops as directed.
I was actually shocked at how much filth had accumulated when I checked just a few days later. Not just the pinkish coating that I am used to cleaning every week or so, but a thick red slime and also lots of black mold/mildew.
In the last couple of weeks I’ve cleaned my humidifier and refilled with clean water every day or two, and used 2-3 extra drops of this product, just to see if it was a fluke, and still it is not at all clean. I don’t feel safe using this in my own bedroom, much less where an infant is breathing.

I hate cleaning my humidifier. I can’t get to all the nooks and crannies. I use distilled water, but that blessed pink slime still builds up. This lil’ bottle slows it WAY down! I use six drops for my little half-gallon unit (did I mention I really don’t like cleaning my humidifier?), and now I’m down to having to clean it every 2-3 months instead of every 2 weeks. That’s a win in my book! I only use my humidifier at night, so the bottle (6 drops/night) lasts quite awhile, about four months. Good stuff.

We have two Humidifiers. one is a Sharp large whole room unit and the other a smaller unit used to keep the humidity level up next to tropical air plants. Previously, they both would get a nasty, smelly orange colored bacterial/fungal mass growing within the units, especially on the water dispersal filters. It took a lot of time to clean both every month, so I decided to try this product.
First, I thoroughly cleaned each one per usual. Then added six drops to each container and filled them with water. Each day as I refilled the water containers, I added six more drops and placed them back in each unit.
At the end of the first month I checked the water dispersal filters and both were free of any of the orange growth and no smell. There was only the usual mineral deposits from the evaporated water. End of month two, still clean. End of month three, still clean, but just to be on the safe side, I did my usual cleaning of each unit.
This Silver in this solution really works, don’t know how or why, but it does. I highly recommend this product to keep your humidified air and humidifier clean.

I need to use my 4L tabletop humidifier in my large en suite bedroom (door closed) almost every day during our cold and dry northern U.S. winter. I bought these drops hoping to reduce the orange mold that inevitably forms inside the machine. Particularly, I was concerned with mold accumulating inside parts I couldn’t see or reach. I was cleaning at least once a week last winter. Now I’m about six weeks into using these drops this year, and virtually no mold to even see! I finally emptied and cleaned my humidifier today, and barely any mold had formed! I probably could’ve gone a little longer. I wiped with paper towels and used long handled Q-tips to clean and dry the hard to reach crevices where I could see extra moisture just starting to gather. I’ll leave it dismantled and give it a good drying out overnight to be sure, although this might not be absolutely necessary. I may wait a little longer before cleaning again, just to experiment a little. Can’t believe I used to have to go through this work every week. Another benefit: I can use tap water, no fussing with distilled. So much easier. This review is getting long-winded, so I’ll just tell you I put in six drops every time I refill for my size humidifier. I think one bottle will last me all season (5-6 months) or more. This product may even extend the life of the humidifier, who knows?

I’ve now used HUMIDIPURE and it’s competitor – Humidifier Drops (plastic dropper bottle). Humidipure works SO much better. Last year I used Humidipure in my two humidifiers. This year I used Humidifier Drops to see which works best. Within days of using HD, I saw a greenish and an orange substance growing in both humidifiers (blue liquid). So I doubled the amount required. I still had to clean these substances out weekly, sometimes daily, which completely defeats the purpose of buying these drops.
My next purchase will definitely be HUMIDIPURE for my home humidifiers. The competitor brand has more reviews. I can only assume that’s because people haven’t used Humidipure yet. Don’t waste your money on the other brand. Buy what works.
THESE DROPS WORK.

I noticed that my device no longer has the stale water smell when using this product.

One of the advantages the Romans had in their efforts to conquer the known world was silver flasks in which soldiers kept and thus preserved water and wine. Silver is a potent bacteriostatic element. Silver dust distributed in some longer-lasting water filters prevents filtered-out bacteria from growing. This product has kept my humidifiers clean and clear (I have two larger ones in my mobile home to keep humidity at 50-55%) and tripped the life span of the somewhat expensive wicks. Early year I also added a similar amount of bleach and that oxidized the wicks and the resulting detritus defeated the silver drops. 3 month into this cold Vermont season my wicks are hardening a bit but are still white and working well. My water source is a park well, the water is CL treated and passes state inspection but can run dirty for a while when a pipe freezes or someone hooks on or off. The water is potable but not filtered. I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!
