UPDATED Review: this unit sucks!! if you ask me it’s a waist of money next year I’ll be looking to buy a different one it really doesn’t cool the house it seem to make it warmer I use to own a LG one they are more expensive but I think I’ll be going back to that one next year cause it actually works…if you see this save you money and keep looking..

2 floor house with central AC. Thermostat is downstairs. The lower floow stays perfectly cool and comfy, but the upper floor where my office is can be downright unbearable. 10 or more degree difference.
Got this to keep in my office and it’s doing the job perfectly. I bought some weatherproof tape to seal up the window part real good and this thing is doing a heck of a job keeping me comfy in here.

Disappointing; 1. Window insert is not customizable and is too long for my window 2. Exhaust vent hose gets extremely hot and eminates throughout the area 3. Due to the vent heat from hose, area temp never got below 85, when left set at 72 for 2hours. I will attempt to move locations and try again and re-review in 24 hours. Noise level is ok, still had to run an additional fan in the house to circulate. Set up ok missing 2 proper sized screws for vent. Worked better on Fan mode than Cool. Used 4kw in 2 hours.

I bought this unit to replace a 15 year old 10,000 BTU DOE (14,000 BTU ASHREA) portable that I had in my 10′ x 10′ office which started losing it’s compressor. Although the listing doesn’t specify if the 8,000 BTU rating is DOE or ASHREA, this unit is definitely 8,000 BTU ASHREA which is about 4,000 to 5,000 BTU DOE, or about half the strength of my old unit. My old 10,000 BTU DOE unit would have my office feeling like a walk in refrigerator, while this unit cools to a fairly comfortable temperature on a 90 degree day. The swing helps distribute the air pretty well and I keep the unit on the high power setting to optimize cooling. While it has half the power of my old unit, it was also about half the price. I paid around $200 for this unit including tax and shipping. I paid about $350 for my old unit at Fry’s, but that was 15 years ago. The listing says it cools up to 350 sq ft. but as with all cooling units, divide that number by three to get your real cooling capacity. This unit works reasonably well in my 100 sq ft office space, but I wouldn’t use it for anything larger. Before taking it to my office, I tested it in a 150 sq ft bedroom at home with a large window that produces some degree of solar heat and it did NOT cool adequately. The included window kit and hose connected easily and vented as intended in my bedroom, but my office already had the venting setup from my old unit, so I just connected it to that. I’ll update this review if I run into any problems.

It got here several days early, very easy to put together extremely cooling (it’s like winter) it’s very quiet has a remote and timer very simple to use and understand.. DEFINITELY WORTH THE MONEY
