We have gas central heat and the bill was soaring. Bought this and had a gas line run to it, went from $250 to under $100 a month and house was warm and cozy, with all the bedroom doors open. Easy to use. I also hate blowing air from vents and this relieves that.

I replaced a decorative free standing fireplace made by Procom when it died after more than 10 years, with this unit. I liked that it was Procom and made in the U.S. and hope this one lasts as long as the first one. I wanted another decorative fireplace but this was the only one they had left of any model and I needed a backup right away. It came with a remote control which I thought was ridiculous. At least, I thought it was ridiculous until I used it, and now I’m not sure how I ever did without it. As it happens, this little fireplace earned its stripes when we lost power for 5 days and it kept several rooms comfortable. It was a good purchase and the fact that it looks sort of like an “old timey” wood burning iron fireplace has become a happy consolation to a decorative fireplace. It looks heavy but isn’t and although the top gets warm it isn’t dangerously warm. The sides don’t get warm.
Overall, I am very happy with this fireplace. It is lower and wider than the fireplace it replaced but that actually makes the area look more open. If this style can fit the decor in your room, I don’t think you can go wrong.
The stove is assembled with the exception of the legs, which are easy to attach. I don’t know if the flame can be adjusted; I haven’t been able to do it but with the remote it’s simply a matter of turning it off when it gets too hot.

We purchased this Procom ventless stove fireplace to replace our old propane wall mount unit in our bathroom (about 150 sq feet). Overall we’re very happy with this fireplace – it’s easy to use, produces a lot of heat, and looks great.
A few notable items on the backend of the install
– Ensure you or your installer read the manual completely prior to install and comply with all local ordinances and safety regulation
– Assembly is very easy, where you simply attach the feet to the unit with the included screws, remove the front grate temporarily by removing the two mounting screws, install the replica logs, and replace the grate
– The logs are very light – I was expecting them to be heavy ceramic (like a coffee mug), however they’re much lighter. I nearly discarded one with the separate box they came in because I didn’t see it wrapped and taped to the inside. All the logs arrived intact
– The fuel hookup for the stove is parallel with the floor. This was a slight issue for me, as the unit I was replacing had a hookup that was perpendicular. For propane, the unit uses the standard 3/8″ flare fitting
– Ensure your installer uses flare fittings and either brass or black pipe (not galvanized) and both thread tape (should be yellow thread tape, not the standard white) and thread sealant to ensure a proper seal/no leaks
– When first firing up the unit, the regulator knob on the front of the unit needs to be held down in the “pilot” setting for 30-60 seconds to purge the gas line of air
– When using the unit, it’s recommended to either have a vent fan running in the room or a dehumidifier, as depending on how long you run it, it will produce some moisture from the combustion of gas
The unit heats the space it’s in within minutes and the automatic thermostat does its job and shuts off once the room reaches temperature.
The unit seems well-built, and we haven’t had to contact support. Should we do so in the future, I’ll be sure to update this review.

I initially was very excited about the purchase of this stove. It does a great job heating our cabin. However, the control valve does not appear to work correctly, so it doesn’t regulate the temperature as it is supposed to. I have now spent HOURS on the phone with USA Procom. They initially kept telling me to get in touch with the Amazon seller. Well, Amazon was the authorized seller of this heater. I had to ask over and over what getting in touch with Amazon would do, if ultimately the warranty was through them. I had to repeat this question over and over, until finally the rep put me on (interminable) hold, and came back to tell me that all I needed was my proof of purchase from Amazon. So, after 2 calls over 45 minutes each (the first rep disconnected and never called me back), I download the order details and send them to Procom via the email address on their website. No response. I wait a few days and send it again. No response. I wait a few more days and send it again. No response. Finally today I called again. The rep I’m talking to could obviously care less. She tells me that they get to emails when they can. Apparently it’s nobody’s job to respond to emails. I’m on the phone with her for over 50 minutes, the first 24 of which are on hold. Then I send the email again (to a different address) She’s gone for about 5 minutes. Then she comes back and tells me that they’ll send me a new control valve, only if I remove the current (faulty?) one and send it to them first. WTF?? They want me to disable my partially working heater, that’s under warranty, to send them back a faulty part before they’ll send me a part?? I’m without words. I don’t even know what to say. I’m 55 and this may truly be one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had. So, I absolutely don’t recommend that you deal with this company at all, or buy the stove and consider the warranty worthless.
