Doesn’t have the same wind impact as an industrial fan in a room with doors and windows open. But in closed spaces with too much humidity from the heat it works wonders at full blast.

DO NOT BUY SHINCO PRODUCTS! Their dehumidifier is extremely badly made and a waste of money. It started out with a minor problem that became increasingly bad over time. By the time it stopped working altogether, I could not get a refund, and even if I did get a refund, shipping a 50 pound box to China would cost a fortune. So I’m out more than $200. DETAILS: A dehumidifier has a compressor, radiator, and fan that work together to draw in damp air. Humidity condenses on the radiator as water and then drops to a bucket below or is drained out of the machine. Sometimes the water on the radiator freezes and the unit stops working, as the solid sheet of ice covering the radiator prevents air flow. At that point the dehumidifier should have a program mode where the compressor stops working and allows the ice to melt. Then the compressor re-starts and continues working. This SHINCO dehumidifier now ices up INSTANTLY and NEVER enters defrost mode. The fan and compressor run continuously, using electricity and making noise but NOT removing moisture from the air. This was always a little problem (I would turn off the unit to allow it to defrost and then manually re-start it) but now it doesn’t work at all. It is out of warranty (90 days?), but even if if they let me return it, shipping a 50 pound dehumidifier to China would be extremely expensive. Online “product support” is just a WordPress template to gather your marketing information (name, email, phone number). DO NOT BUY SHINCO!!!

I bought this unit to replace a Friedrich 70 pint capacity unit that stopped working properly after a few years. This unit is much quieter and lighter than the Friedrich and dehumidifies the first floor of my house effectively. It certainly is less expensive than the Friedrich. I am not sure it would really be able to dehumidify 7000 sq feet as stated as my first floor is about 1000 sq feet and it takes quite a while to bring the humidity down to the desired level once turned on. The pump works well and I don’t use the gravity drain or the bucket. The control panel is easily understood. The instructions need improving, however, since there is a removable panel over the bucket that I don’t know what to do with and it comes with 2 different sizes of clear tubing, the larger of which seems to have no purpose. For the low price, so far so good but we’ll see how long it works. These are all made in China, as was my Friedrich.

I run a dehumidifier in my basement all summer long and this dehumidifier works great. It removes a lot of humidity from the air and keeps my basement nice and dry and cool. The only thing I don’t like about it is,the hose attachment on mine don’t work so well because the hose has to run to long over to my sump pump and it won’t drain correctly to remove the water, so it still fills up the tank. I now just let it fill the tank and empty it about 3 times a day. All and all it works well.

Bought this unit to replace out GE dehumidifier that just broke. I’m giving 3 stars because yes it works great as a dehumidifier but for starters the tank is very small and fills multiple times a day easily. Next is the hose they supply you for drainage, that’s only 3ft long…. The unit basically has to be sitting on top dof my sump pump for me to use the supplies drain hose. And lastly the noise. This thing is loud. I head the fan running upstairs when it’s in the basement. So overall it’s a solid 3 star. It’s loud and could be a little more convenient but does work well and do as it should keeping moisture down.

As an older homeowner I have used and owned many dehumidifiers. All worked with some degree of satisfaction. But none have worked as well as this Shinco.
Now, yes of course I’ve only had it a few months, but unless it craps out early, it will be the most effective dehumidifier I have owned.
Note:
1. Inexpensive to buy,
2. Quiet in operation,
3. Reduces humidity quickly,
4. And for me, so important, removes collected water without a pump, easily and thoroughly. Burning out electrical pumps on units has been a past problem.
It’s real simple, unless it fails early, I HIGHLY recommend this unit. It was cost effective to buy and works very well.

Bought two of these units and they worked well. After awhile, the units would leak and the water would overflow. The auto shut off no longer worked on both units. It’s been over two years so I guess I got my money’s worth.
