Does what its description says. Cools down quite a bit, fan is a bit noisy, no lealage of any sort.
Amazon Customer –
This air cooler does cool the air in the room. I used a fan also to circulate the cool air. It does need to be filled with water a couple of times a day and the back filter needs to be cleaned every couple of days.

Don’t recommend it

I live in Arizona and its incredibly dry here. I was hesitant to purchase this because it was pushing triple degree weather and my roommate does not believe in central air conditioning and I did not know what to expect. The second I filled it with water and ice, when I turned it on, I was impressed and relieved. The unit does not cool down an entire room BUT if you sit within range it will blow cold air on you with one of its three settings. I put cardboard on the windows and did some other measures to block out the heat and I think those measures plus the cooler DOES cool down the room nicely. I keep it on for most of a 24 hour period. Once a day, mid day, I fill it with two ice cube trays and 3 pitchers of water and it works like a champ. There has to be air flow so you do not want to close your door and let it run. You will walk in and find yourself in a swamp like setting, if you do. My door stays cracked when I am in my room. I also have rolled it to other rooms with no issues. I would not recommend this product if you live in a state where humidity is high but more so dry atmospheres.

I would like to have access to a process to return this product.

The star rating is relative to value for the money. There are better units out there, but they cost 3-4 times as much. Next, if your climate is such that you are over 30% relative humidity, which is just about everything east of the Rockies, this won’t work for you. It works best in the Desert Southwest unless it’s Monsoon Season. The humidity will be well over 30% It is meant for small spaces, not whole houses. It does a good job on a 400 sq ft or less room. I had this along on a recent RV fishing trip and we dry camped for a while. My generator is light duty and not enough power for the trailer air conditioner, so I ran this off a combination of an inverter then generator when my battery level came down and even though it was 95+ degrees (with 8% relative humidity), the trailer (26 ft box) kept below 80 degrees. Today the high temp in the California High Desert is going to be about 103 (about 10% relative humidity) , I am using it with the oscillation feature to keep cool air blowing on me while I am working on my truck making the process bearable in my hot garage.
As for the leaking that others complained about, I have only had the issue if I had it off-level as I did on the fishing trip I mentioned. If you take the screw out of the screen, lift it up, you will see how the water flows down the pad. If the unit is leaning slightly back, it’s possible the water can transfer from the pad to the plastic case and then leak out. You may think your floor is level, but I can put a level to a lot of floors and it will show off level. Solution is to just put something under the rear wheels to elevate the rear of the unit a little, then gravity will do the rest.
If you have been using hard water, the holes may plug up in the trough at the top of the pad, so you’ll need to clean those holes periodically.
Replacement pads you can get at your local hardware / home improvement store, you’ll have to cut them to size. If the water pump fails, it’s just a simple fountain pump you can buy at the same place. I use a surge protector because it does have electronics and a power surge from the grid can blow it out.
Lastly, you can’t use it in a closed up house or room. You have to have two windows open at least on opposite sides of the room for some air flow. If you don’t, then all you will do is build up humidity in the room, and it will quit being effective. If the wind isn’t blowing to provide a natural air flow, then I will use one of those window fans pointed out in a window in another part of the house.
In short, it more than meets my expectations for a unit of this price. If you have larger expectations, then you should go to your local Home Depot and shop their units that cost $500 or more and blow much more air.
That’s my opinion, I hope it helps. Cheers!!!!

*** update 15Aug20****
So it started leaking out the backside of unit near the filter
like people have been saying
so after examining the filter area I found out what is going on
it seems that the filter is not setting on the ridge that is designed to
keep the space between drainage hole an filter it looks like the filter
is just wearing out on its edges, so if the company would just sale the
filter to replace the old one the problem would be solved (also the silver
holder at top left of filter seems to lost its holding power too)
so on to my fix to solve the problem
so I placed a plastic clothes pin that I separated on bottom of filter area
to lift the filter back off the drainage hole an problem was solved no more
leaking
so the leaking turns out to be a flaw in the design of filter
so its fixable cause I fixed the problem on my end
I am still giving the SPT SF-612R Evaporative Air Cooler 5 stars
thinking if you buy the SPT SF-612R Evaporative Air Coolerwhich you should cause it works
great that you should just fix problem from start an place something
to hold up filter to keep it from dropping an blocking filter
Today is day one with the SPT SF-612R Evaporative Air Cooler ,
The SPT SF-612R Evaporative Air Cooler is truly plug an play, (wheels are already attached)
The SPT SF-612R Evaporative Air Cooler remote did not come with a battery so gotta buy one
you know how expensive those can be, it was not so hard to open battery compartment if you actually look
at it, the battery compartment has a little section that you pinch in an wallah it opens just fine
the water tank on the SPT SF-612R Evaporative Air Cooler holds a lot of water to my amazement put filling it is best done with a hose or in the bath tub with shower head
the additional ice holder on the SPT SF-612R Evaporative Air Cooler is way bigger than shown (shockingly)
now on to how it works firstly this is more than an over priced fan , it cools you off really nicely (but it is truly something that was designed to cool you not your house) the buttons work great , the only oddly designed thing was the air directional vents it blows left to right at a push of a button but the up an down motion you have to control with your hand an that thing could break so easily so be careful
have had the SPT SF-612R Evaporative Air Cooler running all day an it has been great even at the low speed setting
I think it was well worth the money (I did buy the four year warranty as a back up just in case) so for a $172.42 in total
how could you go wrong with that
like I said this is only day so crossing fingers
will update as time goes on
