These are the noisiest electric heaters I have ever installed, and I do know my business, I’m a retired master HVAC tech. The thermostat’s work well, as does the heat and circulation into the room, and two of these replaced smaller units in my 300 sf bedroom, on opposing walls and blow to the middle space. Not enough heat or circulation so installed a smaller unit in the attached bath.
The kit doesn’t have any documentation or even a wall temple for the three screw mounting points, and the metal top hanger bracket is junk, two screws anchored to the wall work better. Inside the cabinet to mount and wire it, there is a cheap funky wiring connector that must be removed to get the cover off and out of the way for installation. Longer wires and good slip on connectors would have worked better, I had to take an hour to disassemble one connector and adjust the bad contacts to make it work. I can’t see any way to make the unit any quieter, after the first run they get loud, and 65-68 db reminds me of living too close to a train tracks and though it can be gotten used to, it does wake us as they cycle on in the night. One of the advertising descriptions was how quiet they operated. That isn’t true by any stretch of the imagination and I won’t use any more of these units because of that single point.

A little bit noisy, but it is a fan

If you have the electrical capacity, skip over the 120v model and opt for the 240v 2,000W model. I installed this unit yesterday. I had an issue fishing the wiring, but that’s construction related and has nothing to do with the actual unit.
Once I got the 14AWG wiring pulled from the breaker panel to the space between the wall, the remainder of the install was a breeze. I fastened it to the drywall with 3 toggle bolts and to get a super clean look for the wiring entrance, I used a 1/2” chase nipple and a 1/2” rigid coupling and drilled a 3/4” hole into the drywall.
Based on the geometry of the back side of the 120V model, the 240V seemed like the way to go. So glad I did. The reviews and the methods in most others photos left something to be desired. But that’s none of my concern.
Our basement is finished, but the previous owner did a poor job of adding the right amount of supply ducts to keep it warm in the winter. Not wanting to rip out drywall, I chose this $150 option instead. The basement in December through February usually averages around 58 degrees, so it’s basically unusable for us and our 2-year old son. I fired this unit up and within about two hours we were up to 67 degrees. Maintaining 65 now, I find the unit runs about 15 minutes on and 45 minutes off. Estimating our energy use and cost that’s about $0.04/hour. Likely around an added $30/month, but it’s only 3 months out of the year and the basement family room is the nicest part of the house. Totally worth it.
As for the unit, I have no complaints. Installed super easy, wiring and safety circuits are all German engineered, so you know it’s good. Simple on/off side switch and a top mounted thermostat knob. We keep it on the 11 o’clock position and that seems to be pretty steadily holding the room at 65 degrees. Plenty warm enough for us. Now a little too warm in my opinion for the treadmill, but I love the cold.
Highly recommended this heater to anyone and may buy a second unit for the guest bedroom in the basement too just for better customizable comfort.

I ordered this heater to keep my 140 sq. ft. grow room above 60 degrees in winter. The room is very well insulated, so a 1500 watt heater should be more than enough. I installed it just as the manual says and set it to go on when temperature dropped to 60. It went on for 50 seconds, heating the room a half a degree. It then rested for 5 minutes and made another feeble run. I turned the thermostat higher and it went on, briefly; unfortunately it kept going on when other heat sources raised the room temperature well above 60. So the thermostat setting became irrelevant.
I contacted the manufacturer and received a replacement thermostat, which made no improvement. Then I was sent a whole replacement heater, which behaved just the same. Apparently the residual heat from the ‘on cycle’ hangs around the thermostat, keeping the unit off longer than it stays on. The fan is not particularly quiet either. So I’m stuck with a $150 cost for heater (and electrician hard wiring it) for a useless wall fixture.

I was surprised of the output. I put this in my garage to assist with heating after I installed a golf simulator. It pushes out a good amount of heat for such a small size heater. Worked perfect for me.

I have ordered two of the 110v 1500w unit. Quiet enough and blows sufficient amount of air to warm up the sun room. Easy to install but entering the wire into the heater could use some improvement.

Installation was easy with good heat and flow

Put in my RV to supplement winter heat using a galvanized sheet gapped by 3/4 inch to avoid fire risk, quiet and puts the heat out where needed – at the feet as heat rises.

We put this in a bathroom with very high ceilings. Mounting it low pushes heat across the tile floor. For the money, this is a great little heater, Since we were doing remodel I had an electrician install it. Glad I did so they could hardwire and change the breaker to accommodate 220. Also ran it through the wall so no exposed wiring.
I really like the simplicity of this model. Really decent heat that you turn on when you want. Does what it’s supposed to do without the funky digital bells and whistles. We started with their highest-end digital model and gave up on it and sent it back. Limited heat and impossible to program.
Simple mechanical control is the way to go. I also quite like this company and their customer service, Very responsive and helpful. When I told one of their customer people about the issues I was having he directed me to this model. While it’s their initial model and hard plastic, it still looks good and it works flawlessly. Noise is not an issue.
If you want simple and dependable heat on demand, this is a great economical choice that looks good.

I bought a few of these through the Amazon warehouse program – excellent heat and quiet operation. Of note one of the units had a nonfunctional fan while the rest were perfect. I called Stiebel Eltron and requested that they send me a new fan. The customer service was amazing. They decided to send me a new heater rather than a replacement fan, and it arrived the day after my call – truly outstanding!
