I have had space heaters before. Many for slightly cheaper but then again they look like it and never had the safety features this has. I mean it’s 1 feature but still. If the thing falls over it turns off. When you pick it up off of the floor or surface it’s running on it stops. I’ll run it all day and the case doesn’t even get warm to the touch. The output is great. I mean I bought it for my office but sometimes I heat my master bedroom which is huge probably 3x’s the size of my home office and this little space heater does the trick! I think it works very nicely, it looks GREAT better than any other little space heater I’ve ever had or seen. And VORNADO is a great brand. I have 1 little room fan that I have had for probably 15 years, where 5 or more of those years I had it running NON-STOP in an in-office data center (server room). After, we got rid of the server room I brought it home and continue to use it today… so Vornado has definitely won my trust as a brand of quality and durability. This little space heater just confirms it for me. GET ONE I would bet you that it’s better than the rest! If I had one negative thing to say about it is that it’s a little on the louder side than other space heaters I’ve had. But… for me the quality outweighs the noise. I don’t mind a little white noise sometimes to be honest. 🙂

The primally reason I purchased Vornado was the claim it produces 30% more heat and the have a reputation of being American made.
With those factors out of the way, let jump into the review. I live in a motorhome and need a small form factor and low watts. Considering this will be running off batteries at night and solar during the day if needed. The unit itself, is less then 4lbs and has a built in carrying handle but no cord storage. The unit itself did a good job heating up a small bedroom and keep it a decent temperature through the night. The outside temperature was 49 degrees, just to give an ideal of the environment factors it has to work with.
Kind of very disappointed with the build quality! Since they started manufacturing in China, the unit itself feels cheap. The housing feels flimsy and the fan is loud! I have a vornado fan and a vornado humidifier! The fans on the unit made nosie but nothing compared to the personal space heater.
I gave it 3 stars for value considering it’s now made over seas and I know been in wholesale/manufacturing. The cost for the unit is over priced due to the origin of the manufacturer. I would rather pay a little more for made in America and have a better quality control.
There’s nothing else to add and I will keep this review current. I hope this review helps…
PS people are confused about the two output settings. 375watts (low) & 750watts (high). I looked it up on the manufacturer web site…

got this heater for my cubicle at work. it is just right. after reading reviews i was worried about the noise but i don’t think it is loud at all. it keeps the area warm while being safe and small

Let me first say that I’ve enjoyed Vornado’s innovative air movement from day one in college days all through my adult life- from their earlier Vornado product the VH2 (beige one for floor with rotary dial), to AVH2 (black one for floor with digital thermostat), to SRTH small room tower heater, and also a VH5 desktop heater. They’ve all been successful in providing heat. Also Vornado is a US company which was always extra incentive to support. So I’m not biased against this company for any reason…
When I saw Vornado release the “Velocity” series that promises “30% hotter, 39% faster, and heat farther” I got excited and wanted to try a small unit to see if it really delivered more gusto than what I used to own.
Big mistake in trying the small unit.
I literally had the unit mere feet away on an end table near my bed, but as another reviewer pointed out, they boosted the fan output so hard that by the time the air hits your face its already cooled down. So you end up fanning yourself and simply making yourself colder. I said wait, possibly it needs to be on the higher 750W setting to really feel some kind of heat, but nope, after several hours same lack of heat. The physics are all wrong. Its like an engineering experiment that looked good in theory but does not deliver WHEN ALL YOU WANT IS SOME DAMN HEAT.
So I think that Vornado should pull the low end of the Velocity series- the Velocity 1, because in practice, it can’t heat itself out of a paper bag. I say low end, because in all fairness its possible that the Velocity 3 and 5 being having more powerful heating elements, might benefit from the added air turbine and indeed retain the heat as its propelled toward your face.
So funny story, I returned the package to CVS Drugstore because they have UPS Select (you can dropoff prepaid Amazon returns). While at CVS my eye spotted a cheap $29.58 750W/1500W Duraflame desktop heater (the white teardrop looking one), and I picked that up. I keep it at 750W, and in the same spot as the former Vornado Velocity, and I am enjoying excellent spot heat from a pretty “budget” heater.
So sometimes, the best way is Occam’s razor – simpler is better.

My dogs have a very well insulated doghouse, and traditional 1500W heaters are overkill, even on low mode. This low-wattage heater, coupled with a wall-outlet thermostat, seemed like a good solution.
My concerns about noise (based on other reviews) evaporated as soon as I turned it on. The sound, while audible, is mild and pleasing. It doesn’t bother my dogs. It would definitely help me sleep.
This heater definitely moves some air! I could feel a breeze from 7 feet away.
The full story of this heater won’t be known for years, but the 3 year warranty is a confidence booster. As of now, I’m very happy with the purchase.
