First the delivery service will drop the unit off at the street level area ONLY, AND will not directly delivery it to your condo or apartment. While the unit work very nice the compressor is extremely noisy both inside and even more so outside. I had complaints from tenant directly across the courtyard asking if something was wrong it the A/C?

I bought the WET16A33A which is a different model but the same series at the one listed on this listing. My comments pertain to the one I bought. So prior to buying the AC I read a lot of horror stories of the internet capabilities of the unit. Unfortunately, this model is the only one that would be the perfect fit for the replacement of my old unit so I had to choose this one. I can’t vouch for the heat but overall the ability to set the AC based on temperature is a godsend. (My old one was simply ON/OFF, Low Cool, Medium Cool, High Cool) Noise level is ok, slightly less noisy than my old one.
For the internet capabilities, (and this is a IT techie speaking) it’s pretty awful. It took me a good half an hour of trying over and over to get the unit to link to my online account. With this unit you need to be patient, your AC will not connect to your online account on the first try. Just keep trying until you do. After you are finally able to link the AC to the onilne account, it’s more or less smooth sailing if you are using the website. If you are attempting to use the cellphone app, it works like 80% of the time. Both the website and the app are irritating in that it won’t save your username and password and each launch requires you to re-enter your username and password. The app also won’t display the room temperature whereas the website will. In the end, I ended up deleting the app and only using the website version on my phone. It works all the time if I use the website.
I tried using the air conditioner with Alexa and Google. I just couldn’t get it to work. Since voice services with this AC isn’t really that important to me, I didn’t really put effort in researching on how to make it work.
Overall, the unit itself is not bad if it were a dumb machine. For the internet, just be patient when you set it up.

Posting on multiple WCT units by this manufacturer:
– If you are here after googling the unit number, save yourself 4 hours and buy a $23 smart plug and turn the unit on/off that way. Or just buy the dumb version and save yourself the extra $30.
– Remote control does not work further than 6ft away from the unit.
– “Menu” and “Return” buttons exists inside the air intake, under the control panel.
– Manuals that are available online are written for newer, different A/C units and following them does not work.
– Friedrich’s only working app will not correctly connect to and setup WCT model A/C units. Don’t try.
– Wifi setup is not documented correctly and is impossible to complete
– However, the unit does provide cooling if you set the temp to 68 and set it to “on.”

The only reason why I purchased this unit was because my Super told me the wall ac sleeve was only compatible with this one. This ac is terrible!!! It’s only been a month and it’s already malfunctioning. The buttons are not reacting/working… it’s ok, but the buttons are not working. I can’t turn on and off without unplugging or using the app. I can’t believe i paid over $1000 plus installation cost to deal with this headache. I’m going to call the company tomorrow and see what happens.

Customer service is the WORST!!!! I couldn’t get them to honor a 4 day extension of the full coverage, and only offered to pay for the service. Personal told me to e-mail them directly the sales receipt and servicing retailer and they would take care of it. THE EMAIL DID NOT WORK!!! When I called back another representative told me they would NOT credit me for the service visit!!! STILL not resolved as I sit on hold having this guy get me resolution. As one other reviewer wrote, you are SCREWED if you have the friederich sleeve in-your unit as nothing else fits cleanly. UGHHHH!!!!

Very noisy from the beginning. Then, 4 days after the 1 year warranty expired, it shut down and cannot be powered on again. I am waiting for a service call. Reading through the other posts here, its sounds like a short. Amazingly, someone else had a similar problem 4 days after their 1 year expired as well.

We’ve had the unit for three years, and it works well, but the agony of trying to put on the front cover is unimaginable. It’s a stupid system, and the instructional video on YouTube warns you not to get your fingers pinched, which shows how often that happens. I’ve successfully replaced it exactly once, but usually can’t, so it’s efficient so far, three years, but ugly as hell! Friedrich used to be so good. what a shame some cost cutter decided this was a brilliant idea.

If you can avoid buying this unit, do it. It works but is extremely loud and high pitched. It’s horrible and almost a complete slap in the face. Buy at your own risk.
Update: it broke a few months after purchase. Piece of garbage.
