I really like the idea of a portable air ionizer, as I have a single unit one already. So what I liked about this one…is that it has 2 that wrap around your neck, as well as it looked like it might have a motor inside….making it more powerful than what I had. But unfortunately this does not seem to be the case.
So while ionizing the air around you is great, for possibly helping reduce allergens and pathogens in your breathing air, there is no mechanism to push the air through the filter…so I am not sure how much or how efficient this will really be. A normal air purifier has a fan that pushes the air through…thus making it efficient. But I believe this just relies on air around you being pushed in….and whatever amount goes in/out randomly….is what you will get filtered.
So while they will both be sitting near your nose, these will probably help somewhat, but its not as efficient as I was hoping for. I can’t smell or tell any difference when I wear it, although I already have ionized air from an air purifier in my apartment, and you can’t often smell the difference with ionization anyway.
Bottom line: this will be a useful tool to use when trying to limit my allergen or pathogen exposure when breathing outside the house especially, and it looks aesthetically nice, and fits fairly comfortably. But as it lacks any meaningful motor it also won’t be super efficient. I am still actually pretty happy with it though, and I would recommend it, with the caveat that people know it will not filter air the same efficient way a normal air filter would…but will still give you a benefit, in a light and easy to use item.
