This is a legitimate evaporative cooler, not a marketing ploy that relies on the technical definition of “evaporative” cooling to sell you an overpriced computer fan with an ultrasonic mister.
Unlike similar looking products, this tower actually works like a traditional swamp-cooler – relying on the phase-change of water evaporating into vapor to cool the air it is moving! What other products (e.g. ArcticAir and similar) rely on is using an ultrasonic humidifier to turn the water into a mist (NOT a vapor!) which is then blown upon the user – this mist then acts like your sweat, and it only cools your skin if it is allowed to evaporate; this process should be sped up by being blown upon from the fan, but is ultimately diminished and defeated by saturating the ambient environment with excessive mist and humidity.
This tower actually cools the air, which then cools you. Other products try, and fail miserably, at cooling your skin. Don’t get me wrong, ArcticAir misters feel great if you’re outside, in the sun, and/or the relative humidity is less than 30%, but they’re otherwise pretty useless. With this tower, you can expect cool air IF the relative humidity is “low”! If the relative humidity is “high”, then you’re going to have a bad time no matter what evaporative cooler you choose. I would recommend using this tower in a smaller space for personal cooling, and pairing it with a dehumidifier to keep the air dry. You can always crack a window, and use a second fan to evacuate the “stale” humid air out of your space while this tower cools and humidifies “fresh” air being blown directly at you.
My initial tests with an ambient room temperature of ~75*F with 40-50% relative humidity has produced output temperatures of about ~70*. A tank of water seems to last overnight. The included ice gel packs may or may not help, I’m not entirely sure yet – I would recommend only filling them to about 1 inch BELOW the “max fill” mark, as they expand quite a lot when frozen. The fan will move a pretty decent amount of air on high mode. Some may find the dripping of the water irksome, but in my opinion is worth the trade off, and it may be possible to use a highly-porous fiber mat/filter to diffuse the dripping water and abate most of the noise. It’s light enough to carry up or down stairs and from room to room as needed. As it gets hotter and drier (I live in the desert – perfect for swamp coolers), the performance of these coolers improves quite a lot – I plan on updating this review with my findings as spring continues and summer advances. I haven’t found too many other legitimate swamp coolers on Amazon at this price point, so I think this is a really good value for the performance.
Major drawbacks are (again) the dripping noise, and the lack of a water-level sensor with auto-off for the pump. At this price point, I feel that these are acceptable inconveniences because what I care most about is, does it cool down the air and is it affordable? Thankfully the answer is yes.

I love the compact size of this air conditioner. It’s lightweight and portable. It operates so quietly I can have it near me while still hearing the TV or radio. Its convenient settings of low, medium or high makes it easily adjustable to different situations. I love how I can bring it out to my patio table in the hot summer and have it cool me off this mini portable air conditioner is a must have.

There’s much to love above this device. It has a very nice powerful little fan in it, so even without the cooking feature enabled, it works very well as a floor fan with ocilation abilities. The reservoir tank is quite sizeable and holds a decent amount of water but you should still empty it every few days and refresh. Wheels make this device very easy to move, even on carpeted floors, and while only the bottom tank is used as a reservoir for water, there is another space in top of the device which water goes through while turning into mist, both of these spaces can hold one of the 4 included freezer packs to further cool the water down. All in all its very great for anybody living in a situation where air conditioning is not possible.

This swamp cooler works very good, and is fairly queit when in use on max speed.
I must say one thing that I want to share so they can possibly address this, is that the Ice Bottles (for freezing) contain a Ice Water Additive to get the water to freeze faster and melt slower. It is already inside the bottles when you open the package. Well during assembly and unboxing my daughter (3 yrs old) picked one up and began to remove the cap. I was unaware that this additive was in them at this point until I saw her dumping it out.
Now nothing bad happened and I caught my daughter before anything could but if this is going to be included and filled by the manufacturer there should be a bright red or orange safety seal on each bottle so when you’re unboxing you are aware of this being in there already. Or let the customer fill the bottles with the additive and put it in a separate sealed plastic cover so that you see it during unboxing.
Now aside from that the CENSTECH Evaporative Air Cooler works great. It features a swing mode to spread the cool air around the room and kept my office room noticeably cooler. I added double the ice packs to keep them in rotation. The water sump is large enough to fit ice packs for lunch pales and holds about 6. I would suggest using cold water if possible. Fill up a 1 gallon jug and use that water and it will be even colder. Overall this is an amazing product but having a safety issue needs to be addressed to be 5 stars.

Our central air conditioner went out last week as its 108 degrees outside. In the interim of waiting for the replacement, my husband and I thought we would get this.
First, we did not receive the ice pack in the package. Either way, I went to buy a larger ice pack. I then filled the water tank with water, ice, and the ice pack.
Secondly, the temp on the product description says it pushes out cold air as low as 49 degrees.
Unfortunately, the air did not get cold at all. It felt like any other lightweight fan. Very disappointed… and do not recommend for anyone who actually needs COLD air. Already returned product.
