AC is working fine. The room got cool really fast. Only negative part: it is a little noisy

Opened up the window, put in the air conditioner and started it up. Easy as pie.

I love this AC. Every summer for 2 years now, I have it installed in my bedroom window. (take it out in Fall)
This works great, love the remote. Room feels like a little fridge (thanks Frigidaire)
Best money spent and my bill is affordable too! Energy Saver really works! Great product! I fully endorse!

Keeps my 1000 sq ft cottage cool and is so quiet unlike my other ac units. Very easy to use and love the auto and eco feature.

The device is very noisy. When it starts again the noise is infernal. Impossible to sleep when it works.I’m really disappointed for a supposedly silent device.

I’ve been running an 8,000 btu of this same brand, but with the intense heat so early this year & the loss of 2 shade trees, it was no longer cutting it. I wanted to go with a 12k unit, but the house I rent is old & I was worried it would be too many amps. Anyways, to get on with it…
Packaging: The item arrived packaged very well. They even included foam & weatherstripping. The unit has a small ding on the top, and an area of the fins that is messed up. This is pretty minimal for shipping such a large item, and I’ve had worse damage on ones I’ve bought in the store.
Install: Instructions are simple, and you only have to install the side pieces. (The instructions included installing the top bar, but mine was already intact.) I’m a petite, 50-something-year old & I had no problems with it. Not saying it was fun, but it’s not so heavy that you can’t manage it yourself. You basically get in the window & you’re ready to go.
Features:
* The vents are 3″ tall (my last 2 were 2.5″) so it puts out a good amount of air flow. I can easily feel it standing 12 feet away & use a fan to take advantage of moving that air towards my bedroom.
* The cord is LONG – twice as long as my last unit, giving me a lot more flexibility for changing outlets.
* The panel is nice & clearly labeled. No odd symbols or abbreviations to have to lookup every time you forget what they mean. Not much more to say.
* Remote. Comes with one. I haven’t used it yet as I’ve had it set the same to keep my dog cooler in this heat.
* Yes it has foam, and it’s much thinner than my older unit. You can see sunlight coming thru. I haven’t found another brand that doesn’t use the same cheap materials here.
** If the unit shuts itself off when you 1st try it, check to see if the ECO button is on. It will save you a 2-minute hissy fit over thinking you got a bad unit, trust me. It has automatically reverted to the ECO feature after turning the power off & on; not sure if you can change this.
Noise:
* I’ve seen complaints about this, but if you lookup the model specs for other AC’s, you’ll find this unit is = or < decibels than others on the market. The highest setting is 3 decibels lower than my 8,000 unit. I'm happy.
* The noise difference between the on/off cycle is minimal. It doesn’t sound like an airplane taking off & won’t scare the crap out of you.
Summary:
In comparison with my 8,000 btu on a 94 degree, sunny day, this kept my house consistently 2 degrees cooler during the worst hours of the day. It cooled down faster at dusk; with the unit on 72, I was at 73 degrees by 7 pm instead of midnight, and that’s where it stayed until the heat built up again the next day. Again, this in an older, poorly insulated home with bad windows & no shade. I really didn’t think 2,000 btu would make that much of a difference, so I’m really pleased with how it’s working so far. I feel it’s definitely worth what I paid for it & hopefully it will last at least 2-3 years.

I did a lot of research before purchasing this unit and i’m pretty confident that it is the best window a/c available for a small bedroom. You don’t need more than 5000 BTUs for small spaces. If you get a bigger unit, you are likely paying more than you need to for a bulkier machine, and ultimately less energy efficiency (since you are using it to cool a smaller space than it was designed and tested for). In general, the 5000 BTU units are very cheap and much more manageable in terms of size and weight, which is especially helpful if you plan to take out for the winter. Unfortunately, most of the 5000 BTU machines are budget offerings that are light on features. Not this one – it has three speeds, eco mode, dehumidify mode, a remote with remote sensing capabilities – features that are not available on most 5000 BTU units. It cost about $50 more than less well-equipped 5000 BTU models, but it’s still much cheaper than more powerful alternatives. Now that I have it in hand, I’m very happy with the purchase. It was relatively easy to install – I needed a block due to our storm windows, reasonably quiet, and effective at getting the room cold.

First off the positive as it far outweighs anything negative. I just got this today and it was super easy to install. I was able to manage getting it my window by myself, but I live in a single story home so if you aren’t, it definitely wouldn’t hurt getting someone to help.
I play video games in my bedroom that is roughly 13×11, and the problem is that my computer is like a furnace for my room. The rest of the house is fine, but needed something to help keep my bedroom cool while playing games. This cooler is very fast and doesn’t have any issues cooling down my room. For noise, it honestly isn’t that bad. I wish it was a little bit quieter, but I don’t have many issues with noise when going to sleep as it sounds like white noise. I would say it sounds like two tower fans blowing on high.
The only thing I didn’t care for was the weather proofing. I wish I had a picture when it was sunny before I did my weatherproofing. The accordion style gap fillers that come with the unit don’t go completely to the top or bottom and I was worried bugs would crawl right into the room. I was able to use some rope caulk which worked wonder in getting into the small gaps along with weatherseal tape to ensure cold air stayed in and the hot air/bugs stayed out.
Overall, with the price, you can’t beat this air conditioner.
