I was afraid of spending too much, having been frustrated with previous similar products. But from 1st start till now, I am very happy with this purchase. I only have used COOL MODE so far, both max and low power. Very happy. It does vibrate a little at max, but assume is normal and if put something next to it, it eliminates the extra noise. But never the noise is “annoying”. I’m glad I made this purchase, someone who suffers from heat and sweat more than most. I sleep so much better now.

I have mixed emotions about this purchase, made by my wife on a hot summer day. We have central air conditioning but purchased this portable unit to provide additional cooling for one space at the end of the line. The unit was easy to assemble and install and it works well to chills the space effectively for the first hour or so. The downside is more with this being a one hose system. Venting this system to the outside via the hose works well to expel the hot exhaust air. But the downside of the one hose system is that the makeup air must come from the room. When the unit runs for an extended period in a closed room, the makeup air required to replace the exhausted air is drawn from the outside, infiltrating through cracks around the window. Usually this is hot humid air. I found that after about an hour, the temperature no longer dropped, and the humidity increased slightly. If you can afford it, go for a two-hose system.

I will agree with other viewers that it can be loud and makes a clunk noise when starting or stopping, but if it works who cares! Our AC went out this summer and I bought this for the bedroom because who can sleep when it’s over 100 degrees not including humidity? I set the temp I wanted and anytime it goes over it automatically clicks(clunks lol) on. Only downside was the window piece doesn’t fit snugly and leaves gaps but that is where tape comes in
handy. Used leftover painters tape.

I bought the 9000 BTU. It’s pretty powerful and seems to be quieter than other more expensive brands such as Midea. The best part about this unit is its size—it is compact, doesn’t look like a gigantic block in my living room, light, and easily wheeled. My only complaint is that the window panels didn’t fit my standard apartment window size. I have made do with a piece of foam and strong water proof tape. Overall for the price, and my sensitivity to sound, I love it so far.

I got this for my NYC studio and I’m very glad I did. Only reason I didn’t give it 5-statins because I do wish they had included the dimensions of the window adapter. My windows seem like normal windows however the size of adapter didn’t work for mine. If I just use the adapter without the additional extender it leaves an inch or 2 gap on each side in my window. If I use the sliding adapter piece it completely cover the hose opening/connection point because the slider is so long.

Functionally it works great and is nice and compact. However, there is a ‘buzzing’ noise that is present while the compressor is running that is really grating. I’ve been around fans and AC units before and the standard noise/loudness doesn’t bother me much. However, the pitch or the sound of this ‘buzzing’ is really annoying and not like anything I’ve heard from an AC unit. If you listen carefully in the clip you can hear the ‘extra’ noise.
I emailed Ivation and they said this is a normal sound. I haven’t decided if I am sending it back or not yet but if I knew of this sound before I wouldn’t have bought this model.

We lost our central AC unit in the middle of a severe heat wave in the Mojave desert area. So, since I didn’t have $11k in my hip pocket to replace the central AC unit for that side of the house, we went with this and it has done a terrific job!
