I had a different 12000 BTU portable unit that was absolutely not keeping up with the heat in my apartment – I couldn’t get it below 77°. I was apprehensive to buy a dual hose unit because of the price, but I’ve had this Midea unit for a little over a month now and it’s great! Keeps my ~476 sq ft living room nice and cool. 70 degrees even on 90 degree days !
I saw some complaints about the remote, but I honestly don’t even use it. All the controls are easy to use on the unit itself, which is nice because other units I’ve had you had to use the remote for some features.
I do feel like I can sometimes feel it vibrating the floor when I’m sitting on my couch, but it’s not so bothersome. Not too loud, timer and sleep functions work perfectly as I use them a lot when I’m out for work or out of the house for the day.
Saw some complaints about water, so I got a lipped mat for under cabinets to put under the unit and have not had any issues yet. Overall I would definitely buy this unit again, and I wish I bought it at the beginning of the summer !!

I will come back and add more of a review about the performance once I have used this unit for a while. Here is a review about the unboxing, setup & first thoughts
Unboxing:
-The unboxing was extremely easy. You just remove the ties and then lift the box off the unit
-You only have to lift the unit for a second to slide the cardboard out from under it, which is good because it is extremely heavy
-The accessories were not secured very well and were rattling around inside the box
Setup:
-The hose being so wide and thick makes it hard to maneuver. There is not much give when it comes to turning the unit
-I think we technically installed it wrong lol we did not use the vertical window adapter. But its in the window just fine and now the unit can face the way we need it to.
-Connecting the unit to the window was extremely easy. The pieces click together, as opposed to the usual hoses that screw together and never actually stay together
-We found the settings on the unit EXTREMELY confusing. They do not easily identify what they are. Low is a Y? Medium is a plus? High is a star?
-The instruction manual makes no sense because they use the same manual for all their units
-We did not use the remote or the app. We just hit power on the unit when we want to use it and it remembers our settings
First Thoughts:
-The hose is amazing. When the AC is running the hose does not get warm to the touch. No warm air is seeping back into the room
-The unit is QUIET! Super quiet. Especially when on the low setting you can barely hear it running. I would have no problem sleeping with it on at night
-The glossy black gets full of fingerprints and pawprints
-The cool air mostly shoots upwards and its at its coldest when the vent is all the way open. You don’t feel much air if you are sitting directly in front of the unit. I think it cools the room faster, but just beware if you like to feel it down at ground level

In the specifications it said that the noise level was low and hardly louder than a refrigerator. It’s way louder than my fridge. Also the instructions are very spotty. It takes a long time to cool the space and the space is within the size for this unit. It ran all night one night and never reached 22 degrees celsius.

I bought this air conditioner for my mom’s studio apartment. She lives in a senior’s residence and her room is pretty warm. I’d say the room would be around 400 square feet. I was concerned it would not cool the room adequately. I was wrong. It easily cools her space. It’s fairly quiet as air conditioners go. I like it having a remote. It’s easy to use. About the only issue I have with it is the part that empties the water produced by it. There are two options to choose from. One midway and one at the bottom. While the unit does beep when the unit has to be drained the instructions are bad. They reference the bottom drain. If you open up that one they state you need to elevate the unit for the water to flow, To me that’s not suitable. Also you only have seconds to get a bucket other wise the water escapes on the floor. The middle drain does not do that. I’ve left the bottom drain closed and am only using the upper one. The instructions that come with the unit are generic to all the units they sell and are difficult to follow in some areas. The air flow tube is easy to install in your window. As the unit also acts as a heat pump in the winter I am concerned that cold air will enter through it. I’d recommend using some insulation to avoid this. Having said all this I do recommend the unit despite my issues with it. I like it so much I bought a high btu model to cool my condo.

We have a room that is impractical for a window air unit and we don’t have central air so we have been cooling it with portable A/C for years. About every 4 years we have to buy a new one because they lose efficiency, and this year we bought the Midea based on consumer reports ratings and reviews.
One slightly inconvenient thing is that it has to be directly in front of the window it vents to because the hose does not really bend laterally. But we managed this and installation wasn’t too hard.
I liked the idea of the variable speed compressor and the dual hose design and so far I’m really impressed by how quiet it is compared to previous units. It cools very well and the thermostat seems quite effective. It doesn’t heat the area around the window as much as old units did. Overall a noticeable design improvement.
Buyers of portable A/C units should note that portable AC units are less efficient and louder than window units overall. They are really meant for places you can’t put a window unit.
If it breaks in a month I’ll update the review lol.

The A/C unit is pretty good overall, but there are some things that could be improved. First, the advertising talks about how quiet this unit is. It’s pretty quiet when the fan speed is on low. When the fan speed is on medium, and especially when it’s on high, it’s definitely not super quiet. So the description of the unit as being as quiet as a library is typical marketing hyperbole. As others have noted, the foam strips and sliding panels for filling the gap between the window sash and the bottom edge of the window aren’t great because once you extend the panels to fit the width of the window, you push in these plastic nails to prevent the panels from un-extending. The problem with that, is if you want to remove the panels, you can’t just easily remove those plastic nails. You’re probably going to have to use pliers to remove them (and hopefully they won’t break). I wish Midea had designed it to where you could hand tighten/un-tighten metal thumbscrews (perpendicular to the panel faces); this would have have made it much easier to remove the panels when the day comes that you decide to remove the A/C unit (perhaps because you want to move it to a different room). The foam strips have, on one side, a very sticky adhesive (exposed when you peel off the backing). If you don’t do a perfect job of aligning the foam strips on your first attempt, good luck trying to remove them and re-apply them. The foam tears very easily. I wish Midea had chosen a stronger material — such as thick strips of felt. And I think they could have used an adhesive that isn’t quite so sticky. In terms of actual operation, the controls are quite intuitive and work well. In regards to the oscillating air flow louvers, I have a nitpick. It rotates 90 degrees — from straight up to horizontal. I don’t think anyone would ever want the air to blow straight up And when it’s completely horizontal, a small part of the air flow is blocked by the unit’s casing. Midea engineers, if you’re reading this: consider having the louver rotation STARTING at about 30 or 45 degrees (forward from vertical) to about 30 degrees below horizontal and design it to where the air flow isn’t blocked by the unit’s casing when it’s in the horizontal position. I think Midea could also make it a bit easier to get to the water condensation receptacle, assuming that’s even possible. There is a drain plug (at the very bottom), and maybe that’s the only way to drain condensed water.

Works amazing! Cools down the place quickly. Is quiet, and easy to install.

Bought this unit a few weeks ago. it outperforms any portable unit we’ve bought in the past.
I have a 1200 sq.ft. living space and when the temperature was 34C outside, this unit kept the inside at a comfortable 23C.
Quiet, very easy to operate. Set it and forget it.
Only drawback is that you can’t reposition it, the hose is not flexible side to side.
