Purchased as an emergency heat source. I’ve owned it for 2-1/2 years and used it 3 times most recently for about 4 days.
The first time I used it was for about 24 hours when it was 38 below and my fancy high-efficiency furnace had pressure switch problems and wouldn’t run. This 20k btu heater on its highest setting kept ~750 sq feet of my (not very well insulated) home pretty much comfortable but did use about a pound of propane per hour which makes sense because propane is ~21k btu per pound and this is rated to use 20k btu per hour on high. Kept us warm enough and kept the pipes from freezing until I could obtain a pressure switch for the furnace. That use case was exactly what I worried about enough to buy a back up heater. It performed admirably.
Last week in temps ranging from 22 degrees at night to 38 degrees during the daytime and 20-40 mph winds sucking the heat out of my place, I ran it for just a bit less than 4 days during a power outage. I never turned it up past the #3 setting and the thermostat switched the heat on and off as expected. After ~4 days, there was still at maybe 8-10 lbs of propane left in the 30lb tank it was hooked to. I think I could have gone at least another full day without having to swap tanks.
I use the included feet and don’t have it permanently mounted to the wall. It’s perfectly stable. I run the regulator hose to a tank outside through a casement window and just run a strip of duct tape to seal the rest of the window. And, while I do have an CO & combustible gas detector in the area where I operate this, I don’t actually worry about it. So long as the flame is almost entirely blue and it isn’t sputtering, then everything is working right and there’s nothing to fret about.
When I bought this, I understood that I needed a hose, regulator, and a 90 degree fitting. Many of the negative reviews regard folks not knowing that. I suppose in today’s world where we expect instant gratification and hope to put forth zero effort, it’s hard to blame them for being upset. It wasn’t any sort of problem for me, though.
Other complaints seem to be about noises and odor. 1) Noises. I haven’t really noticed any noises that are bothersome. There’s a tick when the thermostat regulates the gas up/down/on/off, but that’s what mechanical thermostats do. No problem for me. 2) Odors. Yes. Burning propane indoors unvented creates a bit of an odor. It’s no worse than operating a propane oven/stove. I don’t find it to be overwhelmingly offensive, so no problem for me on that point, either. I will say that 2 days in to this latest use, I did choose to open a couple of windows on each side of the house for about 15 minutes once. That served to remove the odor for a while and decrease the humidity a little.

1. Do not underestimate the importance of having a thermostat on a heater. I am a mr. Heater fan and have the big buddy and little buddy but you have to be right there to turn it down if it gets too warm. Having the thermostat is great and saves on fuel because it shuts off when it’s warm enough. There is a very nice feature no matter where the thermostat is set that when it approaches the turn off temperature the flame will reduce to about half so I assume it goes from 20000 to 10000 BTU which is going to save fuel. I do not like the range of the thermostat. I have never used it above 1 and heat a 36-foot travel trailer in 30 degree weather. Although it may not be recommended you can tweak the thermostat between pilot and number one and get a range out of it where it will still cycle in the temperature range around 55 to 60.
2. Believe what other people say about the 90 degree adapter that comes with it. I thought well they just don’t know how to thread it carefully and I do. I carefully screwed it on barely fingertight and tried to unscrew it and it wouldn’t budge. Let me emphasize don’t even try it. I ended up not needing one anyway.
3. This has a nice window to look at the nice blue flame. This type of heaters job is to heat the air and it does that great except the Heat and the air goes straight up. If you expect to sit in front of it and feel the nice warmth you will be disappointed. What you will feel is the cool air on the floor returning to the heater to be heated and thrust upward. If you want the radiant direct feel of the warmth soaking into your clothing and feeling cozy you need a heater like the mr. Buddy.
5. Pay attention to the measurements. The photos gave me the impression that the unit was much smaller.
6. I do not notice a bad propane smell. I’m sure there’s some but it doesn’t bother me. I feel good that I’m getting a hundred percent efficiency versus a vented furnace such as the one installed in the trailer where so much of the heat goes out the vent on the side. I am not at all concerned about leaving it on while I sleep unlike most people. Remember these units only produce water and carbon dioxide the same thing you exhale from your lungs. Unless there is an incomplete burning issue you will not get carbon monoxide the poisonous gas. I also feel like I can trust the oxygen sensor to turn off the unit before a lack of oxygen turns me off, again I’m probably unique in my opinions. For the water buildup on the windows I use a sponge and a squeegee and then ring out the sponge and have the water go down the drain. I had this lame brainstorm idea that I would use a Shop-Vac to suck off the moisture and yes it did work but the sponge and squeegee method is much easier.
7. Pet Friendly.. When I used the Buddy radiatant heater I had to worry about their fur touching hot surface and have singed tales, BUT this heater is actually cool all around because all the heat goes straight up to heat the room.

Gracias

This heater was easy to setup out of the box, but came with no hose connection ready hardware. After a trip to the hardware store to pick up a 3/8 NPT brass male to male elbow (available also on Amazon), and the Mr Heater regulated hose l, we w we were in business.
This is a basic blue flame heater, no frills, but it does come with the option to hang on a wall, or stand on the included feet. It also has a thermostat which is nearly a requirement for a good heater.
What I disliked is that the fire box area is open to the outside with nothing but the cage shielding it. Most heaters in this class have a tempered glass shield that protects the burner area, but this one does not. After reviewing options, there is a higher priced heater in the same size that offers this glass shield, so if that’s important to you then make sure to compare your options.
It also doesn’t offer a handle on the frame like others I have seen, making it more troublesome to move around and carry from place to place. Not a dealbreaker at all, but it would have been nice.
That being said, the heater is easy to move around, and offers a lot of heat for a primary use in smaller spaces, or emergency back-up use in case of winter power outages. I recommend that everyone on electric heat have one stowed away for emergencies, as well as a spare 20 or 30lb propane tank.

Agradezco de antemano su atención

Little harder to hook up than one would expect but worth it. Be prepared to buy extra pieces to hook it up

Purchased to extend the seasonal use of my backyard gazebo, and it works like a dream. When first starting it make sure to allow sufficient time for the propane to make its way to the pilot light by holding the control down in the pilot position until the pilot ignites. This may take up to one minute.
