Real Life Rick –
I have an older stronger 1200w microwave. for 50gs it says 8mins total, 4mins each side, for 4x 50g bags for a 1000w microwave. I did this in safer increments reading the alarmist melty firey smoky reviews of avoid microwave.
I did it at first for 10 seconds, then 15 seconds, then 30 seconds, then 45 seconds and gradually WEIGHING these and monitoring for my first 4x 50g batch.
Then I increase to 1min at 50% power, and ran it a couple minutes like that and measured weight.
I think the instructions overall add up if you have 62-66g instead of 50 to start with, but I would be careful and try to check halfway and then quarter way in to avoid melts and smokes and not do 2 hours in an oven either.
It’s simply math, you will get a natural feel for it with your specific microwave. I did 2nd batch and ran 2mins one side 100% power and 2mins 100% another side, and separate minute longs for each side and this time I actually ended up doing a total of more than 8mins to get them to 50-51gr each.
Consider how accurate your scale is, some are accurate down to 1-2gr, and this might mean you are better off safely stopping at 51-52 instead of trying to go to 50 exact in a perfectionist way. it can still absorb 14-15gr of water, just 1-2gr short.
Remember, the friggin crystals inside get REALLY hot at 3-4min long runs and there is EVEN HOTTER inner crystals and trapped water vapor that can absolutely burn ya if you are not cautious. and so these crystals retain their heat for a while and can lose out your last 1-2grs this way.
Also consider the ambient humidity of your particular room or area, if you have a moist air or wet climate, of course letting this stuff sit in the open can cause them not only not get dryer but to slowly absorb more and more moisture from the air.
After recharge, reseal all in a well built zip lock or airtight mason jar or container.
There, and READ THE DARN DETAILS, if you you use what nature gave ya, your eyes, your internet and your brains and follow the instructions and your gut, there will be no melting and no smoking.
Remember the part where it says after a series of drying cycles the yellow beads may no longer be color reactive but the weight measurements and stopping the microwaving periodically to control progress is the key, yes, this means you will sit or stand by your microwave and scale for a while for drying a bunch of packages, but this means you have better control over losing stuff that are not that cheap to buy either.
I might try an oven later, I just did not feel like waiting 90+mins as I needed a few right away and had saved all my dark colored ones over months in another zip lock.

I use these in my gun and ammo safe and they work great to keep the humidity down. You can throw them in the microwave and heat them up after they have absorbed too much moisture for reuse. Great product.

These are PERFECT to keep my camping tent dry after our camping trips.
It keeps it dry and mould free.
I buy this product every year, and everytime we go camping we have a damp and mould free tent.
It does the job it says it does brilliantly.

Bought these to put in storage boxes of coins. Very happy with how they are working and keeping the interior of the boxes dry.

Purchased these for my camera equipment while sailing. Next time will get smaller packets. But they are great and reusable!!

I put 5 of these in a large sealed container with filament to keep it dry while in storage. I weigh each one when new and mark on them the actual mass (nominally 50g each). When they have gained about 20% in mass I dry them in the microwave. I use a 1100W microwave and do 5 at a time for 5 minutes. Usually drives off all but 1g gram of gained weight very quickly. These work well.

I bought silica gel packs for protecting electrical/computer equipment from high humidity here in Arkansas and because they are reusable. They are reusable , but they don’t last all that long, maybe 8-10 times before the packets start breaking down

I highly recommend this product they work exactly as I want. They keep my ammo dry and let’s me know when to microwave to renew them. And they last for a very long time.
Grumpy –
I like the volume of these – they’re a good size for tucking in to larger camera cases and 3d printer filament bags.
The indicator beads are great.
I’ve recharged them once in an oven on the dehydration setting – it was easy and quick.

Worked as expected. Easy to recharge in microwave. Used for drying diving equipment.
